Felt like a win we needed and probably should have had. Not a good feeling about going to Pittsburgh. They're so dynamite

Maybe readjusting to the smaller ice(Kule and Grabs). But yeah they look terrible so far.

Kadri had a good game, looked dangerous again. He's going to have to work on faceoffs, but he's a young player, and there's lots of time to learn!

Kostka sort of came back down to earth that game, but still played relatively solid.

I think Kessel and Lupul are starting to find a gear.

I'm getting concerned about MacGrabbin

Scrivens played well!

One of those games where you could have missed the first 57 minutes and all anyone needed to tell you was "Miller", but man did the Leafs turn it on at the end. Kadri and Kessel buzzing around everywhere, Bozak winning draws like a champ. Let's see that kind of effort for a full game from now on!

Leafs need to learn how to beat Miller. No surprise how this game played out.
I liked Scrivens enough to give him another game, but wouldn't be bothered if we see Reimer.
Controls the game when he has the puck. Outstanding vision and smarts. Game-breaking skill.

And oh yes... Granted it's game #2 of a shortened season with very little camp/practice... But the inability to score with the 2 man advantage continues to burn us.

Kostka is slow and his passes are really slow, other than that he's a solid dman, second assist in his second game btw.

You can if it's Ryan Miller.

Every team has it's demon and ours is Buffalo. Maybe you can't remember but we used to do it to Ottawa's Patrick Lalime. We could play like absolute crap and STILL win because we had Lalime's number and Ottawa couldn't figure out Cujo. (well in the regular season no. in the Playoffs, we dominated them).

They clearly need to work on the powerplay a bit more. Out of what? ten? powerplays we've only scored three goals, and one even strength. not. good. Well, it could bee depending on how you want to take it. We're not doing the stupid run and gun so we don't have to overcome a bazillion goals, but we need to be able to score more than two as well.

But 3 goals total? I think that's good so far.

I think we just need to focus on our cycle game during the powerplay and getting players to the net. And use Nazem a bit more.

The good: Phaneuf, Bozak, Kadri, Mcclement, and Orr.

The bad: Entire 2nd line, Lupul(until the last 5 mins), JVR, Gunnar.

Because of this...Kadri still needs to work on draws. For now, I think it is ok to have him on the 3rd line, and have lots of PP duty.

Carlyle should split the 2nd line up for a game. See if some other combo works.

Very impressed with Kadri. Looks so much stronger, faster and smarter out there. Really happy with his development.

The rest of the offense was garbage. Our top 6 as a whole need to do something other than float around half the game uselessly.

Liles played poorly tonight. Which pains me, I was a big advocate of him last season.

After the 2nd goal we struggled for a while. Minus not scoring on the 5-on-3, the 1st and 3rd periods were almost perfect.

Can't even fault Scrivens. He had an excellent game. Miller was just unreal.

It's funny people think Grabo and Mac are starting to gel, I think that whole line has been equally terrible.

Maybe Kadri will end up as our first line C like we thought when we first drafted him. He's so damn talented offensively and has definitely improved in his own end.

They wake up in the final minutes after snoozing for 2 periods and 17 minutes.

Kadri needs more minutes.

Miller was pretty good, but he faced a lot of shots from the sides. Gotta give props to their D. They outplayed our offence.

I think that's the best defensive game I've ever seen Phaneuf play.

Leafs controlled the play for the most part, I thought. Just couldn't beat Miller because he saw most of the shots thrown his way. Really noticed a lack of traffic in front on a number of occasions. Also though the timing on cycling and rushes is still off. Fraser and Holzer didn't look out of place. Kulemin started to pick it up. Kessel had, what, 8 shots?

What a performance by Bozak on the dot. Kadri's backcheck in the last ~7 minutes of the game and him roofing that shot were great to see.

Phaneuf was terrific.

I'm confident if Kadri was out more he'd have 1 goal 1 assist at least for this game.
