The Jets just sat back and defended....wasn't much difference from the Caps....they just took what The Jets gave em...

Baby steps?
We did finish strong but up 3 it was mostly a laugher.

Baby steps maybe a big step if we can right this thing, was Hendricks showing his sack and chipping in offensively.

Our defense and PK systems needs to be re-evaluated.

It took Bruce about 3 years to figure out to try to be aggressive on the PK. I dont think Oates will get that long a leash.

Showed some glimmer of hope in the third. Ovechkin actually made some plays, drew a penalty. Riberio and Wolski both continue to look the goods. Nicky was the best on for mine, just looked way sharper than against Tampa and actually made some things happen. Kundratek showed a bit - way more than Sarge, at any rate.

Positives outweighed in a big way though by the ease with which Winnipeg created chances and then scored, and the general lack of urgency. Johansson needs to be demoted, maybe even scratched, until he gets some confidence back, cause right now he is wear attacking plays go to die.

Passed by Mafki right after the game in the arena garage backstage area... He was not happy.

Oh well New Jersy is up 3-0 over Phili. We're not the only ones.

I wouldn't just blame Oates, such a lack of effort on this roster it's not even funny.

Glimmer is a good word.

OV could use his points more. He seems to just focus forward and does not realize that the best play to make may be back to the blue line and not to Backstrom who is fully covered and can't do anything with it. Did someone mention he needed Lasic surgery like Green?

This team needs a Clutterbuck or clone but based on style GMGM wants for this team, it will never happen, and this team will continue to be soft and never achieve what it is capable of. Noone has any fear of this team.

He could do with being more instinctive. You can see the cogs turning in his head when he carries the puck in the zone, and it means defenders read him like a book.

Yes someone could coach him in the art of deception.

Hit the nail on the head here. Too much attempts at "flash" and not toughness.

This team isn't even like the high scoring "we will burn you if you make a mistake" kind of team it once was. You need to capitalize after mistakes to get the intimidation factor. Now, you can just walk right all over us.

I remember when Mike Green was actually a feared player and Ovechkin was in the Top 5 player consideration. He was easily better than Giroux is now but he has fallen so short.

As a bright spot, I really liked Kundratek tonight. Which is both a blessing and a curse because our cluster**** of defenseman is amazing and confusing.

Of course, you cannot adjust or apply instinct... it's involuntary.

More than just 1 physical player... the roster has to be willing to use their bodies.

On Green: he's trying to drag the puck across his body too much, especially in the opponents end. I'd wager other teams will spot that on game videos. There were a few times it looked pretty bad. But he did get away with it... at least for tonight.

Becoming? Seems like he became that 2 years ago and has just kept going.

Ribeiro and Wolski have nice hands and are a welcome change.

Carlson was brutal, Holtby was fighting the puck.

I thought that 8 and 19 would look start out like gangbusters after KHL stints. Hasn't been the case. I think Wolski on top line is a great idea.

I hope Oates doesn't go the John MacLean route and start his coaching career with epic losing streak.

Ladd sure found the seam easily b/w 8 and 19 on the PP goal. Should take a picture of Ovie on that one and put it in dictionary next to 'flat-footed.'

Still, i'm going to wait till we're 0-5 or 0-6 to panic. We should rack up some shootout points this year anyway, with 26, 9, and 17 on roster.

I'm hoping to give the team twenty games before I start worrying that this whole thing might
need to get blown up, but one thing I'm pretty confident about is this.

Green and Ovechkin became extraordinarily wealthy and famous at a very young age.

I will argue that both were incredibly immature at that time and I'm not so sure if they didn't
have their development permanently stunted by a run and gun system that made them
think they were far closer to championship caliber NHL players than they really were.

After many years of HARD PARTYING and PLAYOFF FAILURE they are no doubt coming to the realization
that it's not so fun showing your face in public with nose diving stat lines and massive underachiever/coach killer status looming on the horizon.

But what can they do about it?
They're spoiled.
It's a huge problem.

Not true... The jets were still attacking (although to a lessee extent) and even though they may have been sitting back a bit, that's not a reason that the Caps forecheck would suddenly become effective. In the 3rd the Caps actually forechecked in waves and won one on one battles.
