Vancouver has trading partner for Luongo

TSN radio is reporting that Gillies says he has a trading partner for Luongo and its not who you think.

My bet is he is trying to make a market for Luongo. seeing that he sucks and has a horrible contract.

My guess if this has any legs, its Philly!

lol that would be hysterical, Bryz and Luo accounting for 25% of their salary

My guess is Chicago...but who really cares...Luongo is one of the most over rated goalies in the league IMO.

I know it sounds nuts, but it's Philly and Holmgren will do anything to find that elusive goalie he never seems to nab lol

Maybe it's the Kings. MOC is always a sucker for a stupid deal.

Wouldn't that be one of the teams that we think though? I'd expect them to go completely off the board here.

Maybe Florida? Still kinda obvious... for a left field guess I'll go with the Islanders. The player they need to do something with is Dipietro, needs to be bought out.

Gillis did say that this other team has to move someone first. They certainly fit the bill. God that would be funny. Maybe Bryz goes to TO

Philly could trade for Luongo and give up Bryz (who Vancouver will buy out after this year) and a prospect.

Boom. Deal.

Philly fans will haaaaaate Luongo.

If this is to be taken seriously and not as an attempt to drum up a market I will say Fla where Luongo wanted to go. (That is what my spider sense says anyway)...My head says maybe the Islanders, who will have to move a player, maybe Nabokov.

I am wondering if it's a 3 way deal?

Flyers could use a defenseman rather than a goalie. They never replaced Pronger. It'd be like Chara going down and PC getting another goalie to fill the hole. Makes no sense.

I'll say it's the Lightning.

Darkhorses? Washington or San Jose.

And that, is exactly why the Flyers will do it.

i assume an Eastern Conference team would be most likely to pick Lou up.

Early Candidates:

Florida - Would be the obvious choice based on Lou's preference.

Toronto - I believe have fallen off based on a) how Scrivens has played to start the season and b) Khadri is probably off the table now (if he was ever on the table to begin with) based on his start.

Wouldn't be Surprised:

NYI - Strange things happen on the island. He would at least bring them some stability between the pipes. Plus he can go back to the team who drafted him.

Philly - A goalie rumour wouldn't be a goalie rumour without getting the Flyers involved.

Off the Wall:

Phoenix - 10 goals against in 2 games. Maybe they want to make a splash and get some headlines in Phoenix post lockout. I dunno.... I said 'off the wall' ok.

I briefly entertained the thoguht of him going to Tampa stricly becuase it's in Florida but I doubt they would make a long term investment on a goalie when they just drafted Vasilievski (sp?).

Vancouver is a mess, Schneider's less than stellar first game isn't enough of a reason to panic, but having no second line is and I'd suggest every GM other than Gilles, if silly enough to take on a contract for a guy who can't win the big game in the NHL, they deserve what they get.

This assinine acquisition has the Flyers as others have said, written all over it

what about a team like detroit? they are somewhat out of left field? they have cap space, they could send howard back the other way.

Howard is fine, that D is decimated with retirements/signings elsewhere IMO

its Philly why would Florida want to deal for him. They have a young goalie in their system in Markstrom who will be their starting goalie starting next year. Either way wherever Lugo ends up he is going to get eaten alive by the eastern conference
