Nash-Richards-Gaborik vs the Pizza Line

The rangers have the most dangerous top line this year and if these 3 do infact play the entire year together, do you think they could surpass the Pizza line? This could be the best top line weve seen since the Pizza line. No one has yet to surpass the pizza line.

Nash<<Heatley (mainly cause heatley was in his 50g/100pt form)
richards=spezza
gaborik>Alfy

I think at the time each member of the Pizza line was better than the current Ranger counterpart, Gaborik included. From a Leafs fan POV at least. Alfie put up 103pts in 77 games...

It's a bit early to judge but I really doubt it.

Er, Alfie in his prime?

He was one of the top two-way forwards in the entire league.

Pizza line is probably the most offensively talented line since the lockout. When all 3 are on 100 point paces it is insane. NYR line (do they have a name yet? or just GRN?) isn't playing in as an offensive of a time, plus they won't be on 100 point paces playing the NYR system. Ottawa was able to let them be the only offensive talent (and had Redden to aid in it), while the Rangers are more team defense oriented to win games instead of score goals.

The Pizza line was better than any line the state of New York has seen since the days of Bossy and Trottier.

Way to early to tell, I don't see any of them reaching 100 points (albiet in a lower scoring year), and Richards is the only one of the 3 I can see posting 90-95pts as he'll most likely be involved when either winger scores and is the main distributor on the PP.

3 stars on a line doesn't always work, but they sure are fun as hell to watch when they're on.

I actually like the NYR line more in terms of individual talent.

But the chances they have anywhere near the same kind of chemistry as the Sens line is pretty slim.

Pizza.

Pizza.
They were both more individually talented and these three supremely skilled players shared immense chemistry. They are easily the best line post-lockout for good reason.

05/06 Dany Heatley > 12/13 Marian Gaborik (Both are pure snipers, Heatley was a top 3 sniper in the game at this time. Hard to compete with a 50G/50A offensive talent.)

05/06 Jason Spezza > 12/13 Brad Richards (Hit 90pts and would have easily topped 100pts over a full 82gp season. Outstanding breakout season.)

05/06 Daniel Alfredsson > 12/13 Rick Nash (Over 40G and over 100pts from Alfredsson. This was an outstanding player's peak season. Considering his excellent defensive game and clutch play, he is easily the more impactful player than Rick Nash)

you're basically asking if NRG can all hit 100pt paces, which is just a ridiculously asinine question.

quite frankly, i'm not sure if they're even better than Parise-Koivu-Heatley.

It's close. I'd rank them as:

Gaborik >> Heatley
Koivu > Richards
Parise = Nash

I don't think they're the best line currently in the NHL, let alone better than the best line since 06'.

Offensively? Richards is much more capable then Koivu, vision, passing and playmaking are on another level.

Well if the did hit 100 point pace they'd easily be better..given the higher scoring rate and amounts of PP given out during the Pizza line's prime.

Richards has always had more capable linemates than Koivu. This is the first year that Koivu finally has legitimate 1st liners as linemates so let's see what he can do. He and Parise seem to complement each other quite well. Not saying that he'll put up better numbers than Richards, just saying that I think the gap between their defensive abilities is greater than their gap between their offensive abilities, hence why I give Koivu the slight edge.

2-3 games in and you already know this year's scoring coefficient.

Exactly what I was thinking, and it's also way too early to bring this up because these lines might not have any chemistry down the road. Im sure Sedin-Sedin-X and St. Louis-Stamkos -X would probably still outscore both lines.

Oh sorry forgot to ignore recent trends in goals per game, let alone the fact that even with all these early blowouts thus far the GPG for the league is still significantly lower then 05-07.

But hey it's completely unreasonable for 3 elite star players who play on together to possibly even play at 1.22 ppg pace right?

Can't really compare since it was a much higher scoring era. Sure it was just a few years ago but the goaltotals has gone down. Back then you saw multiple 100 point players, now you might see 2-3 if you're lucky.
