Good thing for Snow, that Nino's nowhere close to being a ufa or even a rfa.

Some of these offers are laughable, reminding of the Isles draft pick proposals and Okposo proposals.

oh and ROR's reportedly looking for $5m per, after one impressive season. That Tavares type money.

Look at Mark Streit's numbers in Montreal ..then exploded in NYI
Weber same thing mark my words.

Eller was drafted 13th overall ....I say with NYI he puts up 55-65 pts
Weber drafted 3rd round ,i say in NYI 40 -55 pts a year easy ...
Isles don't trade Nino to improve their 3rd pairing or for a smaller young forward prospect, with lower upside.

They'd want their own smallish pmd Donovan, De Haan, Kitchon, Russo,Ness in that pmd role.

And with prospects Nelson, Kabanov, Ullstrom, Sundstrom and Cizikas pushing nhlers Tavares, Moulson, KO, Grabner, Nielsen for limited spots I don't see Eller's as a big addition, to get excited over.

Weber has absolutly not the potential that Streit has. Weber is PP specialist and maybe a number 6 in the defense. So no way I would do that!

Isles will only trade Nino for an established yet young veteran who is approaching his prime, preferably a top pairing Dman or 2nd liner. They will have no interest in prospects or picks unless they are of similar value to where Nino was picked.

A Swiss fan posted the interview and comments below, on the NYI board. I'm guessing future contract talks will be a barrel of fun, between Snow and Rufener :

For all the curious: Nino's agent, Andy Rufener, confirms that it was his idea to ask for a trade, convincing Nino it was the best for his development. He says it takes full responsibility on eventual fall-out but that he has to do the right thing for Nino. He doesn't see a future for Nino with this GM and this Coach.

Full interview with the agent (in german):

trust me , remember back to what Streit was at 27 in Montreal....Weber is miles ahead of him at 24....again Mark my words ,Weber is Streit part 2.....soon as he leaves Montreal

Montreal did the very same to Weber as they did to Streit ...i bet you'd like Streit back on Habs point ....

Weber got a 100 mph slapshot bomb from point ,....and a great wrist shot.

Habs get a big fast winger that shows up for big games when given the opportunity to play. Niederreiter is 20. Subban is 23.
In what world would anyone trade Subban (a top pairing dman at age 23) for a prospect who may not even be able to play in the NHL? This is mind bottling.

No interest in Weber.

Counter proposal : Galchenyuk for Nino.

1 potential young stud , for another potential young stud.

Was you interested in Streit before he came to NYI?
I watched every game he played in Montreal...
Trust me i know what i see.....who ever gets Weber will make out like a bandit .
He is way better than Streit was when he came over to you guys.
He is like Streit, just needs a place to play full time as a dman .
Habs had a few coaches who for whatever reason played dman as forwards...lol

No more mind bottling then Flame fans, proposing JayBo for Nino proposals.

Or Habs fans proposing Leblanc or Weber/Eller for Nino proposals

LOL, Streit had a 60+ season in the NHL before he came to the Islanders. Weber has yet to even hit 20. That might be one thing if Weber were particularly good defensively, but, well...

Weber's defense is better than Streit was ever in Montreal....no question....he just needs a full time mins...none of this playing as a forward bullcrap...he got a 100 mph shot, you read back on this post in a few years, you see i was right......you'll also see Habs fans saying why did we trade him.....book it

Carbo AND Jacques MARTIN didn't do them any favors...lol

Eller is a high draft pick who is only 3 years older and actually shown skill at the NHL level. Nino has done nothing except ask for a trade off of his team. His value has taken a hit, don't be suprised when what you get back doesn't meet your lofty expectations.

Weber's defense is nowhere near good enough to make up for a 40+ point deficit in points. The two are not comparable. Other than their size, and irrelevant coincidences like they're both Swiss and play for the Habs, they really have little in common.

Oh, I suspect we won't get anything back for him, because I don't think he's actually getting traded. Which is just fine with me. Unless he actually comes out with it, and it's not just a rumor started by his agent, I see little reason to panic and look to trade him for whatever scraps someone says are the best that'll be offered. And even if he does truly demand a trade, there's no reason to rush into trading him. Snow doesn't need him in the lineup, so he can wait as long as he likes until a worthwhile offer is made.

I watched Mark in Montreal..his defense was atrocious at best...so don't tell me Weber's defense is so bad....simply not true....as i said he is miles ahead of Streit ever was at 100 game mark ...

Weber has only played 109 games......30 pts
Mark Streit first 128 nhl games 47 pts.

Again Weber needs more than avg 13-15 mins a night..and he needs to be be played at defense not at forward....just stupid.

Again Carbo and Martin did STREIT and Weber no favors......

Since I don't see Snow moving Nino , I won't be disappointed by the return.

Nino's agent has said he convinced Nino to ask for the trade.

Snow says, he got the agent e-mail last week during training camp, at which point he sat Nino down and explained why he's playing 20+ mins a night in the AHL.

At no point Snow says, did Nino express being unhappy in the organization. He just wants to be in the NHL now.

He's 5 and 1/2 yrs from being a ufa. I expect isles captain Streit has also talked to Nino.

I wish Nino didn't act like some entitled youngster. But, that's not enough reason to trade him.

You're the one who said Weber is currently way better than Streit was when he came to the Islanders, which means age is irrelevant to the point being made here.

To be way better than a 60+ point Dman as a Dman with a career high of 18 points, you need to be waaaay better defensively than simply being not atrocious defensively. I've seen Weber play, and his defense, while maybe not atrocious, does not make up the deficit in offense.

Thats absurd.

I understand you are getting some pretty lame offers, but that is ridiculous.

Nino sucked in the NHL last year, is unhappy and rumoured to be wanting out, but now his value has skyrocketed because of doing well in the AHL?

Come on.. I'd keep him, because its highly unlikely you will get what you want. Had Turris not proven his worth in the previous year during the playoffs, I doubt they get nearly as much.

again i will leave it at i disagree with you .

just remember this ,

128 games Streit had 47 pts
109 games Weber got 30pts with low minutes...
Max Pacioretty after 86 games over 2 seasons had 25 pts then sent to minor leauge .
I seen many habs fans saying at the time ,Pacman was a border line bust..lol

Don't tell me anything about deficit in offense.lol

Anyways i think Eller and Weber is fair for NN....

I also stick to Weber is goona be a 45-55 pts dman on his next team .

Nino has been bad since he got drafted? Yea. 36 points in 39 games in the AHL, that's bad.

Go back to bed...

We don't want to trade Niño for Eller and Weber.

What about Niño, Nelson and a 3rd pick for Subban?

What's ridulous, is the idea that 20 yr old Nino, in the 2nd yr of his ELC has the leverage to force a trade.

A non- Isle scout, recently described Nino's 2012-2013 play as dynamic in a Friedman article.

Snow is not trading a 20 yr old kid, he thinks will develop into a stud, for 2-3 lesser talents.

Isles have a glut of unproven , but promising youngsters. So, no depth trades.
