Look, it's possible he should have been ahead of Kurri 4 years ago, and if so, he obviously should still be. But if he should have been behind then, then he should still be behind. What he's been doing isn't "compiling" in the usual sense, but as far as all-time greats go, you could call it that. building career totals without actually rising to new heights as a player.
Well, i agree in a sense that we got to see what Selanne was about in his prime/peak and the same for Kurri. So they should not be able to build too much case in the twilights of their years. I think most would agree that they were relatively close to each other when at their best. Both having their strengths.

Now, if they were relatively close to each other in the prime years then I think there is some merit to the fact that Selanne managed to age well and Kurri lost his MoJo pretty much after the first lockout.

This kind of comparison might not be good usually, but in Selanne vs. Kurri debate i think Teemus ability to age well could be taken in to consideration. It is enough to push him over the top, that is how i feel.

And he was playing Selke contending defence WHILE being a top 10 scorer in the league.
