Also, anyone know what happened with Kostisyn? I know he went to camp with the Panthers and I guess Kovalev made it over him and Svatos? Did he go back to Russia since then?

I'm guessing that if he left his KHL team just to go to camp on an invite, that means he wants to play in the NHL. He's got some scoring touch and is a pretty good hitter. He might fit well with Kovalchuk and Zajac.

My same reaction. I liked Pesonen when I watched him in the AHL, but maybe next year or at some point next year. I'd definitely like to see him get his shot on a call up over Sestito or someone like that though.

Might as well give Pesonen a look. Can't be any worse than Tedenby, and maybe he could surprise.

hes not any better than teddy either. we need someone to score goals...consistently. voltroning players together wont replace parises points. getting a legit threat will. or teddy could wake the **** up and turn into st louis....doing us all a favor.

Tedenby's never going to fit in here because he can't win battles along the boards. That's a pretty big part of DeBoer's system and probably one of the main reasons he isn't getting ice time. Also a big reason why Matteau is getting a long look because his strengths fit well with this system.

I was just thinking the same thing the other day.

The MT situation sucks because even though I've never been a fan of the pick, I don't like seeing NJ picks fail. And right now, he provides no value on the ice or in a trade unless he goes out for another team's disappointing 1st.

MPS straight up anyone?

That's the line I want to see too. I don't think it's possible right now unless we stick somebody on the second line who doesn't belong there. Maybe once Henrique is back or Lou makes a trade, we can try it.

Wasn't that what we rolled with last year while Josefson was healthy. Then we ended up trading for Poni because Tedenby couldn't cut it.

Funny I have a feeling something similar might happen this year.

I'm in the Tedenby didn't get a fair chance camp, it's impossible to play well when you know if you make one mistake you'll get benched. When he was given a chance to play under Lemaire a few seasons ago he produced. I think Tedenby could have been a solid top 6 but he never got a chance to prove it

I don't think board battles are Tedenbys problem. He does that passably and often draws penalties. The one glaring deficiency in his game that will likely be his downfall is defensive zone play. He just can't seem to figure it out.

He's very shifty. Which means there is times that he quickly wins board battles, and draws penalties, if he doesn't do that, he's either put on his ass or outmuscled. In that sense, board battles are a problem for him.

He looks lost when he doesn't have the puck, like he doesn't understand where he should be or what he should be doing. When they are cycling or on the rush he is ok. If he was scoring you could overlook his flaws, but he isn't.

Just watched the video of Henrique getting interviewed after his practice a few days ago. Cool to see he switched over from a CCM lid to a Warrior Krown. Thing looks bigger than other helmets but I guess it's pretty legit seeing a couple of other Devils wearing it.

Let's not forget Lemaire scratched Tedenby two or three games because of his defensive play. It's not like he was never in Lemaire's doghouse. I won't complain if he's put back with Elias, and Clarkson cause he did look pretty good the one game there. I'll tell you though I have no more faith in this player. I really haven't since a year ago. The problem is we have no one better than him to bring up other than Butler. Even Butler might not be better than him at the NHL level either. There are way better options than this player right now, but unfortunately none at our disposal in our system. We could either sign Sykie, or trade a defenseman.

I'm wondering what happened to Kostitsyn also. Did he go back to the KHL?

Let's not forget Tedenby has been on four different lines in 3 games. He has barely enough extended time this year to get used to anyone. It's all well and good Deboer not trusting him defensively, but don't expect him to rack up points when he is getting playing 2-3 mins on 3 different lines in a game.

Keep him with Elias and Clarkson for at least 5 games to see what he can do. Kovy especially is a hard player to get used to when players haven't had extended time with him.

Tedenby is just too damn small. He doesnt play like a Gerbe or a Gionta who are guys that play a north south game and have a little grit in their play. He doesnt have enough skill or hockey IQ to be a St. Louis. He will sadly be a bust.

EDIT: Just saw he only has one shot on goal so far, which might not even be a shot on goal because I still say he completely missed Nabokov and the net on that breakaway
