Larsson has plenty to prove in Albany. It's not like he was lighting the league on fire or anything. From the posters who saw him play in Albany this year, he had solid games but he also had "poor" games as well.

If you have nothing left to prove in the AHL, that's because you're playing in the NHL... not watching. You can't "over practice" or "over learn" and staying in game shape physically and mentaly is always key for youngsters like Adam.

Anyways, we'll see him play when Lou trades someone on our current blueline. I just hope he isn't playing the "I'm doing nothing cause someone is bound to go down with a injury sooner rather then later" card.

Good call. Wrong name but right concept.

I have no problem with Anderson. He's been one of the best players in Albany the past 3 years.

How does Larsson have nothing to prove in the AHL?

Even Pete said he looked inconsistent in the AHL. He looked anywhere from really good to pedestrian depending on the day of the week.

Did you watch him play ? Larsson doesn't need to play in the AHL. Head and shoulders above.

hm, OK.
Its the combination of this poor call up, poor asset management (we cannot have this many D-men on this team) and poor handling of Tedenby. Besides signing Zajac, which was started before the lockout, we havent made a good move to better the team this season.

I'm beyond amused they waited a day to announce Matt Anderson. I was skeptical they'd call up Butler too, but the reasoning to hold off on announcing the call up seemed to fit with waiting until after the AHL All-Star Game.

No, why is Larsson still with the big club if Pete thought he's got plenty to learn at the AHL level ?

Larsson not playing is frustrating but I'm sure Devils coaching and management know what to do.

we have earned 7 of 8 points and have not even played well yet. but you left that out of your little criticism.

the season is like 8 days old. I don't care about what the team looks like right now. I care what it looks like after the trade deadline.

We should send Larsson to Albany so he can play games against weak competition and maybe get hurt. That will really help his development instead of practicing with NHL players and being coached by a Hall of Famer.

Considering he already proved he can play in the NHL, no he doesn't have anything to prove in the AHL. I'm sure he, like others were more concerned with staying in shape than anything else.

I am starting to wonder if the Devils are screwing up Larsson now though. Seriously, does 'any' defenseman go from being a regular at 19 to a healthy scratch at 20? This nonsense needs to end, now.

Record is not indicative of performance... you forgot to mention that...

We may have wins, but we have them against a mediocre Islanders team, a very bad Capitals team and a slumping Flyers team. And we just got thoroughly outplayed in Montreal. Think we are going to survive a season playing like this?

What lol Not there is the same as being here

I mean, Petey really knew how to manage Grabner too so I won't go that far. And isn't that the point of this place? To talk about this kind of thing.

Nothing beats practicing every other day and skating with Janssen and Harrold and getting to watch Stevens for an hour a day.

Hopefully he gets in soon cause I actually don't mind him sitting a few but saying he has nothing to learn from the AHL is a funny comment.

Weaker competition is better then no competition IMO. If he's a healthy scratch cause we're scared he'll get injured in the AHL, that right there is a alarming sign.

Praticing with Scott Stevens won't make him better if he can't utilise what he's learning in real game situations against opponents that will actually compete over his own teamate that won't try and crush his brains when going in the corner to dig up a loose puck.

I don't mind him sitting for a little while but I would've liked to see him play before the end of the month. Sitting one of our veterans (Tallinder/Volch) wouldn't be the end of the world.

I don't care. in a season like this, you get all the points you can and get into the playoffs. then anything happens from there.

the playoffs are what, 3 months away?

again, people already complaining is par for the course for this board I guess. but you need to relax.

Both of you have solid points.

1) We aren't playing all that great and that is concerning
and
2) We racked up 7 out 8 pts so far in this young season, wich I would've never thought would be possible before the season opener, so I'll take it.

One thing I've liked about Matteau (Not to disrupt the daily Larsson discussion) is how he's stayed out of the penalty box. Refs are calling everything now, so considering he's only had one penalty in 4 games with his history makes me feel better about having him on the team in the next couple years.
