Oilers & Flyers

To Flyers:
Yakupov
Paajarvi
Lander

To Edmonton:
Simmonds
Laughton
Read
Rinaldo
2nd round pick in 2013

Future Oilers:

Simmonds-RNH-Eberle
Hall-Gagner-Read
Jones-Laughton-Hemsky
Hartikainen-Rinaldo-Jones

J Schultz-Klefbom
Smid-Petry
Whitney-N Schultz

I'm a huge Yak fan, but the Oilers desperatly need size upfront, as well as some other pieces. How much value does Yakupov actually have?

Uhh the Kings arent even included...

And as for the offer, id say Oilers say no. Not going to trade Yak for parts likely, probably would be better to get quality. Big gritty winger that can score, Big Defensively sound center that can score, #1D is what would be the target if they decided to trade Yak.

If we're trading Yak, Couturier straight across or for Schenn + Simmonds.

OP is a huge Yakupov fan but he can't even spell his name right. Seems legit.

?
So Simmonds who would be more or less a power third liner
Laughton who went 20 something over this last draft
Rinoldo who is a 4th liner at the moment with hand of concrete
and read who called shotgun on a good line.

Nothing against Read--however, adding a former first rounder MPS and Lander make the deal Simmonds for Yakupov

oilers politely say no

I think this is a bad proposal for Edmonton, but then I've yet to see a proposal you've made that was good for Edmonton. So maybe I'm a little biased.

Anyways wouldn't trade skill for size like this way easier to find bottom six guys than guys with yaks potential. Beyond that Paajarvi
could still be a solid second liner if his finish develops a little. More likely a solid checking winger who chips in anywhere from 10 to 15 goals a year.

Amazing how I posted a better trade between the Oilers and Flyers and I ended up getting flamed by my fellow Oiler fans;while this trade is much worse, and no one is heavily bashing this trade proposal.

Karma for all the fans offering Gagner and Hemsky for upcoming star centers and d-men.

Gags + Hemsky is like.. Ryder + Halak.

Add a 2nd and you've got yourself quite a deal.

[QUOTE=inthewings;58053653]So basically Simmonds for Yakupov? [/QUOTE

Are you nuts or do you just consider Yak this future star?
The Flyers are giving up quality players in Read, Wayne and Laughton
Wayne had 30 goals last year, is a great asset on the PP and is 23 years old on a great contract
Read had 24 goals in his rookie season, playing the point on the PP and was on the first PK line, while making 900,000 dollars...
Scott Laughton is currently centring the 3rd line on the Flyers and do a dam good job of it, he's been the second best Flyer forward this year and thats a lot considering he's 18 years old. His peak is a Mike Richards type of forward, he's just no fun to play against.

As for Yak, haven't been impressed with him in along time. He has high end talent, but it's Boom or bust in his situation. Haven't seen him play in Edmonton this year but from what I've seen in the KHL and World Jr's, he frankly doesn't scream 1st overall superstar talent. Furthermore as a Flyers fan I don't see how MPS or Lander help this team, in this particular deal Yak may be the most talented but he doesn't make up for the production, and special team skills the Flyers lose.

Yakupov is obviously a high end talent, but i really see Nikolai Zherdev written all over him. i think he could be a phenom level talent in this league, but i've yet to see anything from him that would suggest he reaches that level. the pieces that you're asking from the flyers are important pieces to our core, and while this trade COULD turn out well for the Flyers, with Nail's talent alone, it's a risk that the Flyers don't need to take at this point. I think both teams would say no to this deal at this point.

This thread will look hilariously silly in the future. A bunch of 2nd tier assets for the best prospect in the world.

does the mere fact that he was selected 1st overall make him the best prospect in the world? i honestly think that RNH and Hall will both be better players than Yakupov.

Yes, it plays a large part to the fact why he's the best prospect in the world. Especicially when he was ranked 1st by the majority of media outlets/scouting services.

Do you think Boston trades Seguin for this package? Or Edmonton trades Hall for this package? What about Colorado and Landeskog? Edmonton and Nugent-Hopkins?

No because all of those players have more value than yakupov and have accomplished more than he has...

my position is that neither team would do this trade. Yakupov is a risk IMO. Nothing about his game tells me that he will be as effective a player as Seguin or RNH especially. I may be wrong, but that's my reasoning behind my (hypothetical) decision.
