Agreed. Even if Rielly pans out, Jake doesn't need to be considered expendable. Only if the right trade offer comes along, of course.

If Leafs add a B level prospect or 2nd/3rd rounder its fair value

I think this is a pretty good proposal, although Courturier may have a little more value.

But...teams rarely trade their top young players away unless it is part of a deal for an established star. Doubt either team would do this.

Nonis has said that he'll be open too moving a young player for another young player.

What he won't do is trade youngsters for older, established players.

That's fine. I don't want this to become a player Vs. player debate. Toronto and Philadelphia have made quite a few trades in the past couple of years so there is always a chance a deal can be discussed. I think it's a bit early now.

He's exactly the type of dman Philly needs. They have big body's and 1 puck mover.

Hm, surprised, a Leafs proposal that makes sense. G is #1 no doubt, Schenn who knows he could fill in #2, Couts could be sent away for Gardiner or for Rielly...

Fun times, I need the expertise of NHL 13 to review this trade!

Gardiner for Couturier seems fair value, but I don't want to part with Gardiner. As Flyer fans would'nt want to part with Couturier.

Pretty sure there was a thread a few weeks ago discussing a similar deal. If I remember right there was a general consensus among Flyers fans that value isn't necessarily the problem, it's our unwillingness to part with Couturier

Polite no from Philly

Don't think either team does it at this point, but this is actually something I could see happening. Kudos to a leafs fan (and a fan in general) for actually posting a plausible trade proposal.

Well Gardiner has the highest potential on the Leafs right now.

BTW, you think Philly has problems? Have you paid any attention to the Leafs the last decade?

I think it's it's pretty fair as well but imo, I would rather just hang onto to Gardiner. I don't know if Couturier is first line material down the road but Gardiner has top pairing and PP QB written all over him. I might not turn out that way but I'll take my chances

For me Couturier going to Toronto would be much like Hodgson going to Buffalo.

You slide him into the #1 C spot and let him grow, see what happens.

I would love Couturier on the Leafs, but his offensive upside scares me a little bit. Is there really more than 60 point ceiling there?

Who exactly do you think the Flyers can get for Couturier without adding anything of much significance?

OEL prob brings the better defensive game than Gards but I like Gards skating a passing more than OEL. (Could be me being a homer though so I don't really know.)

I doubt the Leafs make a trade like this at the moment. Will likely have to hope the 1st round pick this year can nab a top C prospect.

Would Gardiner for Schenn work better? I think Philly says no if Couts is involved, but Schenn could be more even.

I agree that it would be more even. But I also feel that Holmgren wanted to "unite the Schenn brothers!!!", so I doubt he'd move one of them unless it was in a must-do deal.

Leafs already have Kadri, why would they need Schenn at the expense of Gardiner?

The value is a good starter ...the issue with Philly is hey need a #1/2 Dman...not a rookie.

Kessel +Phaneuf + ??? for Couturier + Laughton + ???
