Bryz will be bought out, its pretty plain to see. This teams lack of success is not entirely his fault, but what are some realistic options?
here are my thoughts.
Pipe Dream: (Price is to high to acquire)
Cory Schnieder
Ryan Miller(seems disenchatned with Buffalo)
Michael Neuvirth(behind Holtby on depth chart)
Jonathan Bernier
Mike Smith(Seems like he has the pedigree to be a flyer, but leary of another Phoenix system goaltender)
Jake Allen
Might not be starter Material:
Josh Harding
Jhonas Enroth
Al Montoya
Ben Bishop
Options:
Robin Lehner(dont know much about him?)
Brian Elliot(good Team D, might make him look longer then he is, prob a great backup tho)
Anton Khudobon (trade Briere for Anton, a pick, and a low end prospect) I remember him standing on his head against us in Minny. young, inexpensive, also in a good system, but I think hes got some talent.

Pipe Dream: (Price is to high to acquire)
Cory SchniederWill trade Luongo way before him
Ryan Miller Don't want
Michael NeuvirthNot quite sold on im being #1
Jonathan BernierMost realistic, and would love to trade for him
Mike SmithNope
Jake AllenLike him, but St Louis doesn't move him
Might not be starter Material:
Josh Harding Unfortunately health issues
Jhonas EnrothNot interested
Al MontoyaNot interested
Ben BishopCould be a possibility. Would love to get him.
Options:
Robin LehnerThey would trade Bishop over him every day of the week
Brian ElliotNope, proving last year was fluke year
Anton Khudobon(rumors he will be heading to Russia come this off season, not sold on him being a #1 either. Too much risk.
Thoughts?
There are my thoughts. Bernier and Bishop are the two I would like to acquire the most based on situations of us and the opposing team. If we snag another 1st in this draft somehow, I wouldn't mind sending that to LA(along with other assets) for Bernier.

Completely agree, but isn't Bernier their #1 chip?
I'd guess they'd like to bolster their line-up for another deep run by trading him at the TDL.

I was actually think an off season move for Bernier. He is a RFA at the end of the year and they should trade him before they try to give him another contract.
I actually think a lot of the Flyers moves should come in the off season. Getting a puck moving dman, a young goalie, and a sniper for Giroux. All should be on the off season agenda.
i would like to see them snag a starter maybe miller if he's reasonable, i would give him a chance since if there's coaching changes for a tray style coaching defense and give him and bryz equal playing time, it will probably work better this way.

There is this thing, called ... uhm ... salary cap.
@Prongo:
Yeah, around the draft would probably be the ideal time to get this thing turned around. You just have to hope nobody will blow LA away with an offer for Bernier.
I like bryz. He needs a real back up. There's such a huge drop off lavy has no choice but to keep running him out there. Bryz admitted he was tired 15 games into the season.
Main issues to be addressed:
#1: Coaching & system
#2. PMD and long term solution for a first parining D
#3: Poor team defense (related to #1 and wrong personell)
#4: Goaltending
just my two cents... they need to improve goaltending but don't trade away our assets to get Bernier if it blocks any other more important move.
I'm sure he is tired, and although he's a legend, Marty Brodeur played 70+ games for 10 straight seasons. So I don't like that as an excuse. And I agree that we need a backup. To continuously throw bryz in there night in and night out, bc u have even less faith in Boucher and Leighton is ridiculous, and a huge defficiency. Getting an adequate backup would alleviate some stress on bryz and more than likely allow him perform better. However, I ask myself the question, can we win a cup with Bryz, and my answer is a resounding... No. Therefore it's time to look elsewhere.
If Vancouver would take 1 million in Luongo's cap hit, I would definitely do a deal for him. I'm not aware of the Canucks needs but I would give them Simmonds for him. I wouldn't want to give up Simmonds though as that would leave the Flyers with a hole at wing. I don't see Vancouver being willing to take a bite of that cap hit though because they might have to hold onto it for 3 or 4 years and a team is only allowed to retain cap for 3 trades at a time.
Simmonds seems a bit much, but I'm not sure what else to offer.
Let them battle to the death for the starting spot
Nuevirth has worse numbers then any guy we have now. pass.
i like Bernier but I dont think we have what they would want. Also he has struggled at times this season behind a defensive minded LA team. but he is young so I would be for bringing him in for the right price.
I dont think think Vancouver moves Lack as I think they finally move Lou this summer and he backs up Schneider.

Bernier was pulled from one game if I remember correctly. He has given up one goal in his last 5 wins. He really hasn't struggled at all with a .916 save % and 1.93 GAA. He has been pretty good actually.
Agree with Lack and Neuvy though. No way Vancouver moves Lack with Luongo going to be traded soon. He also just hurt his hip too I believe and is out for the year. Have to be a little suspect of goalies who have hip problems.
Bernier would be ideal. But we would also need to find a backup for him.
And what about Tim Thomas?
I think Thomas is done. I think Montoya would be a solid choice for the backup role. He would come cheap and he can step in and win some games here and there.
Also, Jimmy Howard? Isn't he not that great? I'm just seeing such ridiculousness here and I can already see how next season will unfold when the next goalie doesn't live up to our expectations.
I think I posted this in the other thread but there is rumors floating around that Howard is close to signing an extension with the wings for 6-7 years -30-35 million.

I want Ryan Miller, and if Buffalo decides to rebuild he'd probably be available, but Buffalo's new owner seems like a guy with no interest in that whole rebuilding thing.
