I think Avs should change logo to a Grim Reaper with a hockey stick instead of a scythe.

I'm guessing head injury until told otherwise.

Some broken teeth wouldn't have kept him out of the game, or made him that angry.

He took a hard hit where the main impact was to his head, all while he was turning (rotational force) into the hit. He looked dazed out there on the ice and then furious on his way off.

The way he slowly skated off the ice, I would really doubt that. There was no blood and he didn't even grab his face like most players do. Got hit in the head/face/jaw, slowly skated around, finished his shift, and left the game.

It is more probable than coincidentally getting all of these injuries...

Oh well, it's not like this team was going anywhere with or without EJ

Maybe, but I've never seen any athlete react physically (I.e., slamming stick and door to the bench) to a concussion like EJ did. Having suffered a concussion or two myself, it is kind of an unusual reaction. Normally, a concussed individual does not have their wits about them to react in such a way.

EJ took a shoulder to the head (jaw?) from Hanzel against the boards.

Headed to the locker room after play stopped and never returned.

This is my speculation on the injuries last night.

I thought Mitchell was just sick so I think he will be back and be ok.
Dutchy looked like he took a knee to the thigh and got a charlie horse so I think he will be fine.
Bordy played a shift in the third and was on the bench so I don't see him missing anytime.
I thought McGinn got his knee twisted up on the break away play. I am a little worried he could miss a week or so.
EJ I think has to be a concussion or a broken jaw. Concussion who knows how long he will be out. If it is a broken jaw he could be back in the next game or two.
Mcleod got cross checked to the ribs and had to be helped off the ice. If the ribs are broken he might miss lots of time. If the ribs are bruised he could miss a little time.
Hejduk I didn't ever get a good look at what happened to him but it was a wrist\arm injury from what Haynes and Mcnabb were saying.

Seriously. All this injury ******** better end when we finally get a good complete (ie worthy defense) on the ice.

That's not gonna happen for a while so i would just put my mind at ease. You know this team is gonna start blaming injuries for another bad season, and they might pick up another Zanon or Hejda next year and it's gonna be the same crappy defense until the fans completely stop supporting this team and they are forced to make big changes.

EJ left after a hit to the head. Duchene left after a knock to the knee, but he returned later on. Hejduk blocked a shot with his foot and was in big pain but it seemed alright. McGinn twisted his ankle. Mitchell was out with the flu. Bordealeau hurt his hand.

Please tell me if I forgot any.

Yea I had the same reaction. Doesn't seem like it would be a knee either because of that. Usually that reaction is from someone who knows they are going to be out of the lineup for a while too, so I'm kinda worried. Maybe dislocated left shoulder, but even that seems like he would be going off the ice gingerly, not in a rage.

Maybe back spasms, he's been plagued with that, and maybe re-agrevated it, but that also seems like he wouldn't be able to throw the bench up at Giggy, and then throw his stick.

I'm at a loss for what it could be, and also very worried it could be long term.

McLeod likely has some broken ribs.

McLeod

Took a vicious cross check to the side, and stayed down on the ice for a long time, and had to be helped off by the trainer while hunched over. Looks like broken ribs for sure.

Right with you here. I don't think it is a concussion, because you don't react like that after a concussion. I know in all the ones I have ever had, that reaction is the last thing I could do. He probably tweaked his back.

I was watching EJ after the hit. He stayed out, but he wasn't moving at all. Given the way he smashed he stick and threw a tantrum, I'm more inclined to say it could be jaw related than concussion. How many concussed players stay on the ice and then flip out afterwards?

Maybe that's just hope more than anything on my end.

If nothing is reported so far I'm sure EJ has concussion. That's how the Avs do their news. If nothing serious it will be reported quickly, if it's very serious it's not reported until they feel it's the right time to report, whatever that means for them.

They reported on Downey's season-ending injury the following morning.

Maybe, but why would he freak out like that? Broken jaws don't usually keep guys out too long, if at all. They just miss a game maybe and then wear a full shield, or that goofy bottom piece.

I don't think it's a concussion either though.

This seems somehow strangely appropriate for this thread...
