imagine how bad our D would look if Barrie didn't have a rise in comfort level after EJ got injured

No time frame yet. But it looks to be within the next week or two. It will be close whenever he starts taking part in full contact drills.

Dater said he'd take the warm-up skate at the Blues game but wouldn't play.

Lando skating hard in practice would probably indicate that he hasnt had any problems for quite a while since the hit. He may have felt some adverse effects for a day or 2, but that it quickly subsided. Im sure they started by having him do workouts, obviously with no problems, then light skating, no problems, now hard skating, and ideally no problems.

So im pretty sure he sat out an extended period of time just out of precaution, rather than reason.

So...I assume that should mean a good chance of him being back Saturday?

That would be awesome, but I think I would want him to participate in a few more practices than that before throwing him back into games.

As much as I want Landy to come back soon, I wouldn't object to them holding him until the Flames game or something like that. That way, he has numerous practices (and potential warmup skates) under his belt to assure he has no lingering affects. And I certainly don't want his first game back to be against the Sharks....

I wonder how it'll affect his game and in turn the captaincy. Think he's still going to be really aggressive laying the body just as much? First guy to get in the scrum and stick up for a teammate?

That was a huge hit, wonder if we'll see a more timid Lando on the ice until he gets his legs back. Kinda why I wouldn't be against keeping him out, gotta make sure he's 100% ready to go and doesn't even have concussion on his mind. Seems a little soon too me, but ***** do I know

Assuming less time doesn't mean more risk of an injury (like if his head is as healthy as it's going to get), being out longer will probably only make it more likely he'll be timid when he comes back.

This isnt Eric Lindros who suffered some major concussions. Im almost certain Lando will be back to his kick ass, steal your gf, punch a koala self when he gets back.

Hopefully he'll be less trusting of opponents when carrying the puck through the neutral zone. Remember he saw Stuart here.

As far as board work and hitting others, I can't imagine it making a difference.

I think what you meant was this:

"Kick ass, steal your gf, punch a koala, we'll smile while he does it all, self..."

As a couple others have said, he probably hasn't been feeling any effects for at least a week to 2 weeks now.

Im wondering if it maybe wasn't even a concussion at all, seems like he was probably only feeling the effects of whatever he had for a week maybe 2 tops. Doesn't seem like a concussion to me.

Maybe whiplash or something with his jaw?

Sacco said, if all goes well after Tuesday's workout, Landeskog will take part in the team's morning skate Wednesday and during pregame warmups against the St. Louis Blues. But, Sacco said, Landeskog will not play against the Blues.

"It's just to keep him skating, and especially to skate with the rest of the guys," Sacco said.

Once Landeskog is able to take contact at practice, it likely wouldn't be long before he returns to the lineup again.

He'll come back against the Sharks, and the game will go to OT.
He'll pick up the puck in the Avs corner and head up the right boards, where Stuart will be standing. Landeskog will then steamroll right through him with the puck, similar to this;

Which will lead to a breakaway for himself. He then embarrasses the Sharks goalie with a deke and goes crashing into the net while scoring. Meanwhile the San Jose trainers will be scraping what's left of Stuart off the ice.

The current medical thinking is that players with concussions have to go through a series of physical steps before being cleared to play.

The first step is to be 100% symptom free. No headaches, no nausea, no dizziness, no problems with lights, no problems focusing and concentrating, etc.

Once the player is symptom free then they need to participate in light physical activities. Walking on a tread mill or riding a stationary bike would be a good example.

If they are still symptom free then they need to participate in heavier physical activities. Longer and faster bike work or long distance running and sprinting are good examples. Heavy skating on your own would also qualify.

If they are still symptom free then they can return to practice with no contact. This is where Landy is right now.

If they are still symptom free then they can participate in practice with contact. It sounds like he might be able to give this a try this week, perhaps Thursday or Friday.

If, and only if, the player goes through all of this with no symptoms are they physically cleared to play.

It looks like the Avs are following the standard medical process to get Landy back in action and if things continue to go well he'll be back shortly.
