Depending on where the 1st round pick is, I would consider this. It would need to be a pretty nice 1st round pick though.

I get the feeling Jamie Benn doesnt want to be a dallas star (long term anyway)

To Dallas, Hall Gagner 1st
to Edmonton Benn

Cancel the rebuild! Forget everything you've sat waiting for the last six years!
How would that fly in Rexall?

WTF? Hall and Benn are almost interchangeable. You expect Oil to add Gagner and 1st on top of that? Benn for Hall flip would be fair if for some reason Benn wanted to play for Oil instead

Well.. you'd have to assume it's a team that has room to move a C and either a top D or G, and none of those pieces could be overly old...

Krejci + Hamilton + Subban ???

Gives Boston Hall to play shotgun alongside either Bergeron or Seguin. Not sure where Gagner would fit in, and the 1st would presumably be in the top 5-10.

It's a ton of youth/value going both ways. But since a lot of the pieces have unknown longterm value, I'm sure one team or the other would look back and regret it.

What about:

Subban, Galchenyuk

for

Hall, Gagner, 2013 1st

_____________

Hall for Subban (MTL wins that part... not by much)

Gagner + 2013 1st for Galchenyuk (EDM wins that part...not by much)

I'd do this. Personally I think Galchenyuk will be better than Hall

_____-RNH-Eberle
Yakopov-Galchenyuk-Hemsky

Subban-Klefbom
J Schultz-Smid-
Petry-N Schultz

The numbers say otherwise:

Hall has two seasons in the NHL, 126 gp with 49 goals and 95 pts.
.75 ppg and .38 gpg

Benn has 3 seasons in the NHL, 222 gp with 70 goals and 160 pts
.72 ppg and .31 gpg

Hall is also 21 and not even close to his prime having played since day one in the NHL. Benn is 23 and had his best season far and away last season. Hall could just as easily break out more this season and end up even further ahead. Can't believe I'm arguing for an Oil player

Bottom line they are about equal

benn is a big center and is durable, hall is definitley more skilled but he eats the boards way too much.

The value of that? I think the answer has to be: almost anything. A 21-year 1st line winger that could be a perennial all-star, a capable and still young second line center, and likely a top 5 pick? The value of that package is through the roof. If I had to choose between taking that package or any single player in the NHL, I'd be hard-pressed to say there are even five players I'd rather have than that package.

The OP wants to fill the hole at 2C ... and is hoping to use Hall, Gagner and the 1st round pick to do so?

First off, you don't trade Hall. But even if you did, it would be to land a top pairing defenseman. Not to find a second line center.

Wtf is this even? I don't think there's a GM in the league that wouldn't be jumping up and down trying to get Tambo's attention to trade their #2C for this package

An easy no with Kesler's injuries, especially with the Schultz addition

An EASY no?

Really? considering you're getting a cap friendly Alex Edler for 6 years?

I'm sure that will offset the loss of Schultz

But shurg

Canadiens offer David Desharnais ++... waiting until next season though.. you could switch DD for Plekanec.
