Danbury Whalers win FHL!

Danbury sweeps Dayton 3-0 and captures Commissioners Cup. http://fhl_league.stats.pointstreak....gameid=2144345

Interesting note: every team that won the cup has relocated or folded the following season

Wasn't it Akwesasne who won it in the inaugural season? They only folded last year.

Congrats, Whalers!

Such a huge upset, 42 wins and 320 GF for Dayton versus 28 wins and 218 GF for Danbury in the regular season! I wonder what happened to Dayton all of a sudden, both teams swept their opening series...overconfidence maybe?

I'm sure that played a role but Danbury signed a pretty good player with a few games before the regular-season ended so he could be playoff eligible. I think he had a couple points in every playoff game.

Yeah you're right! I guess it should be worded that every winner relocated/folded within 2 years of winning the championship.

I worked for the New Jersey Outlaws in 11-12 when they swept Danbury in the finals to win. Was also in Danbury this year to see them win. Fun times for both but winning the championship in 11-12 was special.
