The GM of the [insert homer vote] is the best.

That being said I'll go with these four in no particular order:

Chiarelli
Armstrong
Lombardi
Murray

Going with Glen Sather.

BUT Gillis might very easily change my mind depending on what he gets for Luongo.

I disagree, I think [insert homer vote] is better.

He did [insert list of good transactions] while [insert your homer vote] only did [insert list of bad transactions].

went with Lou Lamoriello

becoming increasingly disillusioned with Holland and he's the other obvious choice

Lou! Not even a homer vote. He turned the Devils into one of the most consistent and successful franchises in all of sports in these last few decades. Even though many free agents leave for other places, Lou finds what he needs to keep this team on a winning pattern. Last year he improved the team throughout the season in order for them to compete for the cup, hopefully we will see more of the same this season. He has our defense set for years with our current group and our prospects, the forward prospects are lacking at the moment but I trust Lou will find some good pieces in time to step in when Patty and Zubrus retire or leave the team.

It will be a sad day when Louuuu retires.

The roster and prospect depth Fletcher has done with the Wild in such a short time is astounding!

He better do something in the coming six months. Just drafting and growing a farm is not enough to compete with the best GMs.

Doug Armstrong of the St. Louis Blues right now is the best GM in the NHL.

Man, given the drafting, development, smart signings, and player procurement that Poile has done in a small market with not much of a fanbase, he gets my vote.

Mind you, he does have a hell of a head coach in Trotz too.

But still, Skrastins in the last round, Erat deep in the draft, Weber in the 2nd round, Rinne deep in the draft, Franson, Hornqvist, Spaling, Lindback...finding and developing guys like Joel Ward, Vern Fiddler, Timonen,

Picking up useful veterans and role players and have them fit well into the lineup like Kariya, Witt, Dumont, Sullivan, Arnott, Kostitsyn, Fisher, Bouillon, Yip, Gaustad, now Gill and Hannan.

I have a ton of respect for the guy-- he's made a LOT of lemonade these past few years with a smaller player budget, but also a smaller administrative and development budget, which can't be discounted. But I do understand if a) the lack of deep playoff success holds him back in that regard, or b) Trotz gets a big chunk of the acclaim (also deserving, in my opinion).

But with what he's had to work with in Nashville? I think he's the most competent GM in the league.

Chiarelli and Lou were also in contention.

Though Fletcher is leading this poll, imo he's no way the best GM yet.. They haven't made the playoffs for three years? He's done good job there but the team needs to produce results now. Not that they're not up to it.

I think Poile deserve a mention despite it being a homer call. For 90% of his career with the Preds, he's been hamstrung on the $$$ front, and yet he's still found a way to put a perennially competitive team on the ice. Most casual fans can't even name a single one of our forwards, yet we still do pretty well.

Haha and who voted for Feaster?
