Doughty vs. Pietrangelo

Who would you rather have on your team Doughty or Pietrangelo?

Doughty. Petro is a great defender, but people forgot how good Doughty was because of one below-phenomenal season. Hopefully his play in the playoffs last year helped remind people.

I will say Pietrangelo just because I like him better overall at both ends. Doughty is no slouch.

I'll go with Petro because he is better defensively and offensively it's a toss up. Keep in mind Doughty has played 4 full seasons compared to 2 for Petro.

Petro...CONSISTENCY...on both sides of the puck.

...and I don't buy into Doughty long-term. Borderline conditioning, and much more punishing style of play.

Doughty is the best defencemen in the world when hes on his game, consistency is good and all but Doughty brings consistency at a much higher level than Pietrangelo when it matters the most.

can't go wrong with either. Went with Doughty as I'm an admittedly bias Kings fan. Also the Poll and OP are asking two different questions.

He was good for 30 days last year...which was the first time in over a year and a half...consistency and Drew Doughty don't belong in the same sentence. The first part of your assertion, I agree with.

I think Doughty has more game-breaking ability, but Pietrangelo is consistently the better defenseman.

Pretty close. I would take Doughty at this point but really I think choosing either is sensible.

I took the guy that won a Stanley Cup and has been a Norris finalist over the guy that has done neither.

If not for Pietrangelo's bit of a slow start to last season(could argue it was the team) I think he finishes 3rd in Norris voting.

Doughty seems very immature, very inconsistent and disappointing.

Doughty. Played great for Canada and the Kings in the playoffs. I live Pietro and believe him and Doughty are very close, but I just think Drew has the slight edge.

I'd take Pie in the regular season and Doughty in the playoffs.

Bottom line, these guys are both top 10 guys I take if I'm starting a franchise tomorrow, and they're easily to top 2 defenseman, no offense to Karlsson. My order is below, I didn't include Crosby because his health is a concern to me

Malkin
Giroux
Tavares
Stamkos
Doughty
Pie
Toews
Backstrom
Quick
Rinne

I voted Doughty because at his best he's the best in the league... Pie has a higher ceiling IMO and hasn't hit his potential, not even close... You can't go wrong in who you pick

Lol, this thread was really predictable.

I'd take either TBH. I don't think (ATM) that one of them is far ahead of the other. I'd love to have either one of them on the Flyers.

Doughty's great, but his hype-train is a little much because of an absolutely extraordinary playoffs.

Pietrangelo for me.

If you're in the middle of typing something about Karlsson, you have 5 minutes to edit it out and get back on topic. The rest of you, going off topic or posting random spam will get you infractions and threadbanned. Simple.
