Allan Walsh @walsha
For people wondering about NHL expansion, its happening (pure and simple). It's been on the league agenda the moment the lockout ended.
Gaglardi apparently told a Vancouver radio station that realignment was definitely happening before next season.
If Walsh is correct, that'd likely mean teams would realign twice. I know their have been rumors about Quebec City getting a team, but the majority of the rumors are centered around cities on the Pacific cost like Portland or Seattle. I've heard Vegas as well although not recently. Kansas was rumored at one point so I guess they could technically go in the East. Otherwise, I guess 3 West teams could end up going East.
One would go for Winnipeg to be in the West for sure you'd think. If the two new teams are on the Pacific coast, you'd have to send two more over. I'd assume CLB and DET would be locks. I think Nashville would make sense for the other mainly because I'd hate to see Chicago or St. Louis leave. I think those two could be the class of the West for a while more so than Detroit.
EDIT: So here's one response to Walsh from Lyle Richardson.
Spector's Hockey @SpectorsHockey
As per @walsha , #NHL expansion is coming. Quebec City and Seattle, here we come?
Seattle is one I've heard for a while, but Portland has been the new popular name since they just acquired an NBA team.
EDIT2: I got that mixed up. Seattle just acquired the Sacremento Kings. I don't actually follow the NBA.
I guess if expansion means we can finally get a equally numbered 4 division alignment then I'd be for it. I weep for the talent pool, but hey, more people are theoretically playing hockey as it expands in this country. Next season seems a bit soon since the Phoenix situation is still unresolved.
Ribs is wracking up the points, but I haven't been impressed with his intensity level. Nor has his defensive play/FOs improved.
I'll still always root for the guy until he gives me a really good reason not to. I just enjoyed his prime years here too much.
BTW, I haven't been able to watch any Washington games, can someone tell me who his linemates are on a typical night and is he on the 1st PP unit? Looks like maybe he's playing on the 3rd line at even strength with Ward and Chimera while getting 1st PP unit minutes...hard to know for sure just looking at box scores.
