Mike Knuble

Where is Mike Knuble going to end up?

There may only be a few days for unrestricted free agents to find a new home after the recent NHL agreement.

There are a few other free agents still out there:

I could probably look this up but what was his cap hit in Washington?

Mike Knuble earned $2 million last year, but that is down from $2.8 the year before that.

He is old, so his salary could continue to go down.

He had 18 points in 72 games last year. He has some value. Where is he most likely to end up?

After last season, he's going to have to earn a deal in training camp somewhere. Age caught up with him and he slowed down a lot. Not just in skating, but with his puck handling as well. A lot of the chances he used to bury ended up being saved, contested, or forced wide. He can still be a useful player in certain roles and a great locker room presence, but he's not going to fill a top six role full-time anymore.

It'll be interested to see if the additional time off will be a boon to him, or it will be the final nail in the coffin. He was a slow starter in Washington, so the shortened season doesn't seem like a good factor, either.

I wouldn't mind Knuble back in Philly as our 4th line RW. I'd just be happy to say bye to Rinaldo.

I don't think he gets a deal. If there had been an extended camp and preseason, he might have gotten a look before being cut loose like Philly did with Guerin a couple years ago.

Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins are both reportedly interested in the services of veteran winger Mike Knuble.

Not surprising. He started his career (and won a cup) in Detroit, and I believe he still considers Michigan to be his home and visits there during the summer. Not sure if he relocated his family from DC during the lockout or not, but if he did, I presume it was to Michigan.

I will lose it if Knuble somehow makes his way onto the Wings, nothing personally against him but he is useless to us. Nyquist is already being screwed out of a spot by players much worse then him, all we need is another one i guess. If it happens we can completely forget Tatar getting the shot he deserves, he has already said if he isn't on the Wings roster in 2 years he will go to the KHL and i can see it happening, I wouldn't blame him either.

Sadly MK22 slowed down a lot and just isn't the player he was just three years ago. He really isn't even up to NHL condition anymore and teams would be better served with a young rookie on the fourth line. Knubs is a class act and I wish him the best but sadly his game is gone and his time has come.

This has nothing to do with Tatar. He will ne on the roster at 2013-14, Mike Knuble won't. That has been the "Tatar-plan" all the time and any signing isn't going to change that.

I know he isn't that Mike Knuble he once was, but he is 3 inches bigger right-handed "Holmström", who has 2 healthy knees and can actually skate.

If he still has hockey in him, he could be a nice veteran to have in the pressbox and ready to jump in if needed. Replaceable part for a minor role.

Yes, he moved to Grand Rapids (Kentwood). I think his wife is from that area (met at Michigan Univ. days). Also Knuble's brother has a business at Ann Arbor, so It's not a surprice he prefers now that location.

This is how you get players.

Have a wife from the same area than your team, Suter and Parise had Minnesota-wives. You can't beat the family.

Definitely. The race for the 3rd line LW spot is between Bourque and Spooner (Pandolfo was invited to camp as well) since Caron is hurt. Knuble had a couple of good years here, I'd be happy to see him back here for another season.

Playing with Peverley and Kelly, a really good 3rd line, would probably help out his stats, too.

it has tons to do with Tatar

Tatar isn't gonna make the team this year but as things stand now actually has a very realistic chance at playing a bunch of games as an injury call-up

I guess Detroit isn't going to work for Mike.

Philly needs somebody to take over for Hartnell.

Sorry, didn't see the sticky - move this if you want!
