With the way they're playing, not sure I'd call anyone untouchable at this point.

Not that we need him, but always have liked Laich.

Are Hendricks and Beagle untouchable? They seem like spare parts to me.

Green+2nd+Galiev for Couturier

It looks like Philly needs a puck moving defenseman and are looking set down the middle for the future with Giroux-Schenn-Laughton. This could make Couturier expendable because both teams are struggling early.

I put in the 2nd+Galiev because the flyers don't exactly have the best prospect pool outside of Laughton.

Caps could use a good young #2C for the future because I just don't see that in Johansson because he could be traded or just used on the wing and really isn't looking that great this season. He also has chemistry with Backstrom and should probably stay on his wing imo.

I know flyers fans will hate this but the Flyers' most expendable position is center and their 2nd biggest need is defense(goaltending). You have to give to get.

So if we win those 3 games this is a cup caliber team somehow?

I'm for breaking it down and building it back up the right way. I don't think Green is a critical part of the solution, at least not on this team. Haven't for a while. You're free to disagree and hold on to the Green-Schultz uberpairing dream as long as you wish.

3 game streak merely an excuse. Doing what the Devils did MacLean's year is the best medicine for what ails us if we actually want to take the next step. Especially since this year is that much shorter and that much less to suffer through.

He is what a he is. A guy with good mental toughness and decent tools that Hunter's system made look much better than he was. Not a weak link but not a franchise goalie either. If the trade makes sense do it.

I feel like they pass on anything with Couturier.

Green + for the Schenns. I feel like Philly would entertain that depending on what the + is.

Brouwer went for a 1st and he got better since. Chimera probably a low 2nd/high 3rd.

Eh, more like not worth discussing. I guess a 3rd for each would be fair but they play a very favorable style for their contracts.

Green might be a good addition to Ottawa to fill that 1year gap in the Gonchar to Ceci transition.

+ could easily just be Brouwer because Hartnell is injured and they could use a replacement power forward for their top line.

As long as you don't put him with Karlsson

So we have to trade Ovechkin for junk, wait a decade, and then finally win a Cup?

Washington reminds me of the sens 2-3 years ago, reports of a crappy toxic locker room, coach after coach, what they need is a quick rebuild like the sens , get rid of those crappy contracts like Ward, Green and the others. Keep the leaders and vets like Backstrom, Carlson, Alzner and one of the goalies. You already have some decent young talent coming to fill those spots, acquire some picks and follow the Ottawa model, the pieces are already there.

Sample rebuild I'd do

Green+ for Schenns

Holtby+ for Kulemin and McClemment

Laich, Johansson for O'Reilly

Brouwer for picks

Ribeiro for picks

Hamrlik, Poti, Erskine for picks

Ward for picks or buyout

Chimera for picks

Schultz for buyout

Futures for Setoguchi

Perry, Weiss, Smid, Winnik, Clutterbuck one of Timonen/Streit/Whitney, one of Backstrom/Kipper in the offseason. Could probably overpay decently for all given how much cap we'd have after purging everything (by my count 34 million dollars).

Kulemin Backstrom Perry
Ovechkin Weiss Setoguchi
Schenn O'Reilly Forsberg
Winnik McClemment Clutterbuck
Hendricks Beagle

Alzner Carlson
Smid Orlov
Timonen/Streit/Whitney Schenn/Jones (oh we also tanked super hard. Whoops)

Veteran G (Backstrom? Kipper?)
Neuvirth

No, I wouldn't give up the Schenns for Green. Luke has been solid and Brayden is still too young to give up on.
