Gully.

Can we trade coaches? Send Gully back to Texas and call up Willie?

Please?

Sure, they didn't play great, but they played well enough to win. I don't like getting mad at the refs, **** happens and usually if one team is getting called on everything, the other is as well. Too bad that wasn't the case tonight.

Dallas should be 3-1. Multiple reasons why they aren't, but the referee's are a part of it. This was horrible.
Even if the refs were perfect it still likely means the Hawks get more PP opportunities. If we keep getting outplayed like this we won't draw penalties. If we put Morrow and Robidas on the PP the chances we do get with the advantage won't matter. I get your frustration but the problems here are so much bigger than the refs. We keep allowing 40 shots a game even when we win and our PP is being seriously mishandled by our coaching staff.

Yes. He used to be good, back when Ribeiro was here and he had awesome chemistry with him but now he's just garbage. I don't know what happened to him. He was a PPG player one year, one of Canada's top forwards at the Olympics now this.

No one has an answer ... no one.

The popular theory ... or at least the one I'm totally fabricating ... is Morrow has incriminating photos of Gulutzan.

Astoundingly, yes.

We can't figure it out.

*sigh*

So Chicago's captain snipes the GTG to get them back in the game.
Our captain decides to put the Stars shorthanded and give them the extra point.

What a great role-model. Thankfully we have Whitney and Jagr to straighten things out, because Morrow's type of leadership the past few years are not what this team needs.

Also really perplexed as some of you why he is even out there on the PP, he clearly has no legs anymore and can't keep up with the play. He's obviously a good body to have in front of the net, but to do that he needs to actually get in front of the net while the Stars maintain possession...

Kari played amazing and I just feel really bad for him - first no shutout in Detroit, now this.

(On another note, hi to all fellow Stars fans. Been a lurker here for a long while but decided to finally make an account. Moved from Dallas in '95 so sadly I have to watch online from Toronto now.)

If the refs were perfect Dallas would have had one penalty, the one Robidas took.

I realize the problems are bigger than the refs, but we would have had a great chance at wining without those 6 horrible calls. The only time Chicago looked truly lethal was after they scored that first fluke goal.

Also, we allowed 40 shots versus Detroit but we were the far better team. Only game we got way outplayed as against Minnesota. This game we got outplayed, but it wasn't enough that we definitely didn't deserve to win.

If Jagr's injury is serious, Reilly Smith better be the one to get the chance in the top-6...but we all know who it would be.

Welcome!

Wish your debut was on more positive terms, but it's always good to have another "local" on the Stars board.

The answer is easy. Gully is a young coach who is scared of his vets.

When you find out, make sure to let us know why.

Absolutely ridiculous when we have talent like Loui or hell, even Reilly would be better out there.

Lobo, how many Hawks fans were at the AAC tonight, roughly?

Looked like an awful lot of hands go up when Hossa won it.

I've seen it many times before, I knew exactly what happned as soon as it occured. A little after mid-way through the 3rd, he had the puck and was skating down the right side (it was the play when Stalberg met him near the hash marks and took the puck right away from him) and pulled his groin.

I'd expect all of us to hear tomorrow Jags re-injured his groin and he'll be out for a week.

Sad, if true. Ten years ago, Jagr's groin only got pulled when Bill Clement was doing the broadcast.

Gulutzan had no update on Jaromir Jagr after the game, but he didn't think it was serious.
Regarding tonight, I think what we saw today was a team that hasn't had a real practice since.. never? The D is a mess and the system isn't set up properly yet. They need some good hard practices to reinforce the breakout, where wingers need to be, what D do in every situation, etc.

Hopefully they have a good video session and practice tomorrow to shore up the D, and not take another maintenance day. They spent all day in Detroit shooting the ****, time to get to work. This 40+ shots on goal a night CANNOT stay. That has never lasted 40+ games and been successful.

More than what the usual away fanbase brings. Less than what Detroit/Pittsburgh bring.

Would guess probably 700 or so. They were way more spread out than they usually are (well usually as in ever since they won the Cup, cause they never use to have "fans" here).

Most of them were in the lower bowl so that might be why.

On the crowd overall though, way better than what I was expecting. There were more there tonight than there were at last year's season opener (and less Hawk fans).

Only thing I saw was him coming into the zone only to be surrounded by two Hawks, then skating off gingerly. Nothing I saw that would've caused a groin injury or anything like that.

Freakin Eakin did look pretty good tonight. Was Jagr hurt before our first powerplay because our PP lines were pretty trash.
