You're inferring this based on what in that photo?

It's like this:

Step 1: Immediately insert Gomez into second line Couture-Gomez-Havlat

Step 2: If (when?) that line flourishes with Gomez, trade Clowe.

It's not rocket science IMHO.

Couture-Havlat ain't broke, but forward lines consist of 3 forwards. Our current second line only has 2 forwards + a guy who can't skate and looks like he doesn't belong. The 2nd line is doing well in spite of Slowe Clowe, not because of it.

If Gomez won't be immediately slotted into the 2nd line to see how he fits there, at the very least when the Sharks get big leads they need do some experimentation with finding a good fit to join the Couture-Havlat combo. God knows it ain't Slowe Clowe.

Guess this means nothing?

●A fantastic playmaker. Last year, in what was certainly the worst season of his NHL career, Gomez's 5v5 primary assist rate (considered the best gauge of a player's playmaking ability) still ranked 31st in the league, ahead of centers like Joe Thornton, Anze Kopitar and Eric Staal. He ranked 23rd by that measure in 09-10 and 14th in 08-09.

1. Gomez hasn't proven **** to warrant those minutes or a spot in the top six.

2. I don't relish this team losing its backbone by trading the only person besides Burish who is overtly physical and will throw down.

If Gomez pans out that's great but trading forward depth for sake of trading it seems foolish.
