That wasn't a Habs player setting a screen in front of Neuvy, that was a Habs player sitting on Neuvy's lap and telling Neuvy what he wants for Christmas.

Except the first thing this team would have to do if they decide to go back to contending is limit the number of shots against.

Being a great goalie on a crap team only goes as far as you're willing to stomach a crap team.

Can't understand why they are sitting on their hands, team shows no urgency and they clap at a Neuvy save at 0-4.

At least we don't have to hear Brooks "Tire-Changer" Laich's postgame "WE JUST GOTTA WORK A BIT HARDER AND GET TO LOSE PUCKS" crap.

This team is really a piss poor passing team. We seem to believe that no pass is worthwhile unless it directly leads to a goal or we have to give it up due to pressure on the puck. That last power play was classic Caps. Green and Ribiero, I think it was, had an exchange that probably should have involved a couple one-touch passes but never materialized because Green held onto the puck. Still not enough time to judge Oates, but I still believe it's an indictment of how poor a passing team they have been for years.

Pains me to watch these teams around the league scoring goals for fun and having goalies that keep the puck out the net with regularity.

Looking that way. As long as GMGM is here, it won't matter.

If I knew anything about hockey.

I might be able to better comprehend this

masterpiece of hockey genius we are

so blessed to have witnessed so far this year.

It's beyond my understanding. Too complex.

So much nuance to this work of art.

Definition of Caps player screening a goalie. Standing somewhat in front of the tender but also 10 feet in front of him and being at the hash marks

It may not seem like it right now but given the amount of tradeable assets they have and the upcoming FA class they could put together a cup winning team (with the right coach, perhaps Laviolette if he gets fired. He's always great for the first 2 years and then starts falling apart). Break Green into 3 proper pieces the way the Wild had with Burns. Trade/amnesty/let walk all the fat. We could put in competitive bids for 3/4 of the market once Laich/Brouwer/Green/Hamrlik/Poti/Erskine/Schult/Ward money is freed up. Get Perry at 7x7.8, Weiss at what Zajac got or Ribeiro for that spot at his current hit, Smid at 4.5, Clutterbuck, Johansson+Laich for O'Reilly, Forsberg coming over, whatever. Oh, high pick from 2012 as well. Just get to the point where you have an answer at every single position and the cup is there for the taking.
