Every team has slick players who make amazing dekes and 1 on 1 moves to the goal and then finish with style or run ridiculous passing moves with ease or players who can laser in to the top corner from the blue line.

When teams do their best to take away Ovi who's not at his most comfortable in this system in the first place, who does any of the above for us?

I mean when you think about it do you actually think this team is going to win the Cup this year? Not correct personnel and new coaching.

We'll be better once we got Forsberg and re-sign our key guys. Get rid of the fail and bring in some new players.

Hockey is played entirely different than it is supposed to be in Washington. You see other teams getting gritty goals or doing amazing passing plays or sniping it. In Washington, it's a "let's sit back and wait until their is an opening"

It is actually exciting watching a team like the Chicago Blackhawks for example.

This season is not over by any means but i'd rather miss the playoffs than get a 1st round exit.
When has McPhee ever did that since he's been here? We are wasting Ovi's prime years right now.

Poke him in the back and he'll get the message.

Wait a minute... Ted Leonsis is just excited, my bad.

Just so strange, look at the goals Ovi was scoring in the KHL just a few weeks ago and it is mind blowing to think it doesn't happen over here. However when you REALLY think about it i wouldn't exactly be too happy to see Johansson on my line either so that has to be a factor.

There is NOTHING wrong with his conditioning, the way he was hitting, puck handling, skating at speed in Russia is proof that he's in game shape. Must be a motivation thing, when nearly all your team mates are stinking out the joint it must be hard to put the team on your back all for nothing.

Might have something to do with having 4 opposing players and no supporting players around him any time he gets it.

Ovechkin and Backstrom need to be split up. Maybe permanently. Put Ovechkin with 2 guys who defer to him and shadow him any time he has the puck. Zubrus2 and Clark2. Ditto for Backstrom.

I feel like I want to blame this on rust and the fact that we're learning a new system...but I'd be lying to myself.

we're simply a bad team. Ovechkin had the ability to lift a medicore team into playoff contention when he was on his game but he's just not otherworldly talent anymore. Him and Backstrom have gone stale together and everyone we play knows it. Mike Green much the same. beyond that we're loaded with third liners and tweeners. We're not very talented.

I have been impressed with Ribero and Wolski though. I'll need to see more of the later to pass a final judgment but he's looking like a bargain at the moment.

PP and PK are really off. The PP looks as inept as it did at the end of Bruces term. Much of the same core players are on the unit though. That leads me to believe it's not the coaching.

The goalies haven't been horrible but I dont recall either making a big save to keep us in the game (although I suppose we really haven't been "in" a game yet)

I'm not sure what would help us at this point but I dont think wholesale trades are the key just yet.

Ovechkin/Ribeiro/Backstrom are the only players worthy of being on the top 2 lines. We need an infusion of some serious talent on those lines.

All that Ribeiro creativity and no one to actually take advantage of it, i kinda feel guilty having him and being misused considering the crap around him.

Ribeiro has kids? I thought he was some sort of "player," from what I read.

What, you don't think he likes having Hendricks and Brouwer sniping his feeds in?

Thank god we got rid of Semin. This proves that he was truly a cancer and not a MacAfee scapegoat of the year or anything. Look at how much better we are without him.

Price is jumbling the puck and Hendricks decides hes a sniper and misses the net.

Also, Toronto down 5-3 after being up 3-0, no not trying to instill hope, just pointing this out.

Trade Perreault and Chimera and a pick if needed for a quality forward

Shop Schultz ASAP. He's not better than anyone we currently have and that is pretty bad.

I'm pretty disappointed I sat Carey Price in Fantasy today.

Really really hating the PP. These guys simply refuse to pass the puck unless there is a penalty killer bearing down on them.

Teams seem to easily defend our every move

All teams.

Green at the top of PP seems too slow to read pass and shoot. Did i miss anything? The lifted stick and freeze is not fooling anyone.

2 goals needed for the over

I would have never ever thought goals and shots on goals no less would be a HUGE problem for this team. The one thing you could guarantee from our team was goals or at the least bombarding the net with quality looks but i don't see it anymore.
