ya , you are only saying that cause they had a good game, but the reality is we need 2 good lines going, kessel is the to go guy, he needs that big winger on his line ,now that lupul is gone.

kuli-grabo-frattin, checking /scoring line
fast, hit , check , score,

He can provide some grit, and has a NHL shot. It is concerning about putting him with Kadri, who has looked pretty good, but still lacks experience but I think with Komarov they'll be fine. Komarov is smart player and skates extremely well, and was 3rd. leading scorer on the champions last year.
At the end of the day, we're putting Kadri between two "prospects" (not sure if Komarov still qualifies as one) whose offensive game has yet to translate to the NHL.

As for Connolly/Kadri, Burke's said on numerous occasion that he leaves roster decision to the coaches.

But whatever floats your boat. If you need to believe that this is somehow a different regime, go right ahead.
Maloney was interviewed on TSN radio the day after the Lombardi trade and said he was discussing the deal with Burke before he got fired.

I'm glad Frattin gets the call, despite him not playing as well this year. But people should really temper their anger against Connolly. In this shortened season, Loops isn't the only one who's going to get injured and we need all the depth we can get. If we had traded Mac like everyone (ok, including myself) wanted, we'd already be in serious trouble.

Just pure gold.

Huge fan of this decision.

I think there are a variety of line combinations that could work. Interested to see what Carlyle runs with tonight.

maybe nonis is looking to replace lupul outside of the organisation.
how about petr sykora

sykora-grabo- kulimun

veteran leadership, the vodka line, may work till lupul gets back.
he can score, still has some game left in him, comes cheap , 1mil maybe

LineUp Hopes:

MACARTHUR - BOZAK - KESSEL
JVR - GRABOVSKI - KULEMIN
FRATTIN - KADRI - KOMAROV
STECKEL - MCCLEMENT - ORR

PHANEUF - KOSTKA
GARDINER - KOMISAREK
FRANSON - LILES

SCRIVENS
REIMER

FRASER / GUNNAR / BROWN (sit yo' ass down)

Brown needs to sit his ass down. He's been horrible. I haven't even noticed him. He has been invisible. McClement is capable of cycling, he needs a competent partner.

Honestly, take your vodka line BS and leave. Does it look like Nonis is trying to make this team older? If you haven't realized, Leafs are in a development stage. Nonis/Carlyle are trying to accelerate the AHL development by providing motivation - that prospects will be provided opportunity and if they play well, may in fact stay with the team. Honestly...

I love Gunnar's game - but not right now. He isn't playing that well right now. He needs some perspective. And everyone else seems to be outplaying him at this time.

if we start to miss lupul, than nonis might have to make a move, just thinking a week from now, if things change.
lupul is a big loss, remember.
i like the young players to play and develop, but if its not working than what.
i'm sure nonis is thinking , outside help

Frattin is a natural RW and Kulemin can play LW. As good as the lines were last night, I don't think you can try Frattin at LW and keep Kulemin on RW.

If I were Carlyle:
L-C-R
van Reimsdyk-Bozak-Kessel
MacArthur-Kadri-Komarov
Kulemin-Grabovski-Frattin
Brown-McClement-Orr

D
Phaneuf-Gunnarsson
Gardiner-Liles
Kostka/Komisarek-Franson

Reimer starts.

I'd coin-toss between Kostka and Komi. Both have been about as good in the first 3 games. I just hope Kostka's not still on the 1st PP unit if he is dressed. Gardiner-Phaneuf and Liles-Franson should be the PP d-men.

Man the Leafs winger depth is pretty amazing. That lineup still looks scary even without Lupes

if we never had lupul from the start, would you be happy with the line up, or would you be crying for a top 6 forward, the latter i think. so outside help is what we may need. if the team can keep the pace without lupul, than thats a bonus. odds say no.

He played a GREAT game last night...

19 MINS of ice.. +3, tied for most blocked shots on the team, had to take on the task of malkin/crosby..
