Guys, Pens fan here
going through some stats found out that Matt Frattin has the best goal and points per minutes in the league. I also see he played only 10 games. What is the deal with him?
The guy is an unreal goal scorer at every level of hockey (college through NHL). He at worst a solid hitting goal scoring 3rd liner. he probably maxes out as a 2nd line winger. Hes also not available. The guy is a freight train that scores goals.

Makes a clear difference when in the line-up. 200lb 6ft tall. Second best shot on our team (Phil Kessel ). Plays well when he embodies a power forward. As untouchable as untouchable gets on the leafs.
He's a pure goalscorer with decent playmaking abilities.
He had like 36 goals in 44 games in his last year @ UND and then continued scoring great in the AHL. He's got great chemistry with Kadri.
I see him as a 25G 25A player.
if frattin can ever become a 25-25 guy i'd be ecstatic! personally I'm hoping for a 20-20 player, which along with all his intangibles would be incredibly valuable

His behind the back pass to Kadri who saucered it to Mac against the Flyers (I think) was a very nice play.
Saying he has absolutely no vision is ridiculous. You need to have vision to see where your teammates are to get open even as a goal scorer. He might not be the most gifted passer, but's he's got NHL-level offensive awareness.

You sure about that? Frattin's vision on these goals are fantastic.

youre gonna find a lot of overreacting people because of his hot start. Solid college player whos currently injured (scoped knee) but needed to earn a spot on the team and appears to have. Thought to be a pure goal scorer and hes definitely not disappointing. At worst, 3rd liner but definitely has potential and looks like the work ethic to be a 1b line player at best. Looks like he has developed some chemistry with Kadri and thats never a bad thing
Hits hard, great shot. Decent skater and a likable character. Have good chemistry with Kadri so hopefully he will stick around. 3rd/2nd line kind of guy.

same here, he was far from untouchable when the season started, didn't even make the team. 10 games doesn't change that

The yt clips above show that Kadri have great vision. Not so much Frattin even do saying he have no vision is false. It is just not the thing that stands out from him.
Pure goal scorer. Took some time to get used to the pro game last year in his first go around. Was unstoppable in the AHL playoffs last year. He has 26 goals in his last 44 games played (AHL playoffs, 2012\13 AHL regular season, and 2012\13 NHL regular season. Kids a beauty.

he was in trade rumours this past off-season. Of course rumours can have no substance to them so that could be a moot point.
Still, i wouldn't say he's as untouchable as untouchable gets. Kadri Gardiner Rielly Reimer and JVR all have more value

He has the shot, skating and power to score 25 per year with a good playmaker. In fact, given a great playmaker (Spezza/Thorton lite), he can get to 30-35 goals per year IMO. Kinda like Milan Michalek in terms of goal scoring ability.
Basically what I'm saying is, he's the perfect winger for Kadri
