Meaning, if you wanted to make a trade, or if someone were to demand something of you, these would be the assets you would be highly protective of or expect a lot in return for because of skill, salary, age, leadership, whatnot...
Here's my take:
1. Koivu (because of skill and cheap)
2. Theodore (skill alone, perhaps overpaid)
3. Komisarek (youth, size, salary)
4. Zednik (skill and cheap)
5. Kostitsyn (bluechipper, cheap)

I'd go with:
Koivu (electrifying player on the ice)
Theodore (Theo of 2001-2002 showed us that size doesn't matter)
Markov (For his precise shots from the point)
Komisarek (For the hard hits he will lay on opponents)
Kostitsyn (as others said, bluechipper who could replace Koivu as the electrifier on ice)
#1 Koivu (best player, capitain and most skilled player)
#2 Komisarek (total package, he will be one of the league's best dman)
#3 Markov (more offensive than Komi and will definitevely be one of the best in the nhl)
#4 Garon (will be our #1 goalie sooner than later)
#5 Theodore (even if I don't he's not any good, he could fetch a good player in return)
I would take Dwyer off that list cause the guy has heart and so what if he loses his fights at least he stands up for his team mates...
so take off Dwyer and please put Traverse as the 5 @$$e$ of the team
All five ***** would be french canadian then. No wonder we can't get anyone to play here!
I would keep Audette off that list because of his injury. I think he can put together a nice little season. One component of being an asset is that you could contribute to your team and I think Audette can still pop 25-30 goals.
It's not about untradeable, it's about the best assets. Assets are defined for different reasons: fan favorites, salary, age, etc. You can be ranked high for different reasons.

I would hesitate to assign any ranking to Tomas Plekanec right now, but I predict he will be playing center for the Montreal Canadiens in 2 years at most. He's a good prospect, and Savard knew what he was doing when he drafted him.

Awsome question that I took a long time to think about. In the end, my answers are similar to any others on the list, however, by year's end, I think there could be a huge change.
Not making the list (in no order):
Perezhogin - he went from being mostly invisible in the rookie tournament to a point where Julien is praising him and his adaptation abilities. I see him playing at some point in the NHL this year and very possibly making this list by the end of the year.
Higgins - came into Montreal and most gave him 3rd line centre as his best potential. Since then, he's proven he's got a lot more in the tank and, combined with a superior work ethic and superb two-way play, might make for a hightly coveted talent.
Hainsey - has had his ups and downs, but he's still young and defenders do take longer to mature. By the end of this year, if he plays to potential, we might have more trade offers for him than anyone since he's purported to have the highest offensive ability of any of our d-men - a characteristic that's in extremely high demand.
Garon - the only reason I didn't include him on this list is because the NHL is repleat with quality goaltending. I think it's only a matter of time, though, before he proves he's better than Theo.
Kostitsyn - if healthy, then experts say he would have been taken in the top five in an extremely deep draft. Trade potential is low, though, until he proves he's fit for play in North America.
Which leaves the top five:
5. Zednik - he's not the best right winger in hockey by a long shot, and only until he proves he's consistent will he be regarded as a legitimate #1 RW, but until then he's the best #2 RW in hockey.
4. Theodore - his stock slid dramatically after last season, don't kid yourselves. Is he a one-hit wonder, or is he a superstar who had a bad year. This year will prove it one way or another.
3. Koivu - he may be our best player, and he may get 71 points on a team of marginal talent, but he's still only played one full season since his rookie year. If he comes off this knee injury and plays the rest of the year and produces like last year, he goes to number one, no questions asked. Until then, teams might shy away because of the boo-boo factor.
2. Markov - if not this year, then by next year I believe he'll be an all-star. He's got all the skills, is offensive and defensive, and is extremely consistent and reliable. If Montreal had a better overall defensive team last year, he might have garnered more votes for the all-star game then.
1. Komisarek - it's been said that up to 23 teams inquired about his services within six months of him being drafted. He's huge, getting better by the moment defensively, and has an offensive potential that we're only beginning to see. Combine this with his fantastic attitude and work ethic, and you have the next captain of the Canadiens. The sky's the limit here.
1)Markov
2)Komisarek
3)Kastsitsyn
4)Koivu
5)Theodore
6)Hainsey
7)Zednik
8)Perezhogin
9)Bulis
10)Souray (I just like him + he's pretty valuable to us since we don't have much size)
