What a finish, and what a collapse for Los Angeles. They won the faceoff, and then did everything wrong after that.

so, i was horribly over medicated last night and missed so much fun drama from the leafs/habs game. i love this type of thing but not enough to read through 1400 posts of leafs and hab fans telling horribly biased summaries. i am a devils fan and i trust devils fans so if anyone wants to take the time to give me a blow by blow of what happened last night and post it here or PM me i would be indebted in terms of beer and hot dogs.

Leafs creamed the Habs in every aspect of the game last night. Including Grabovski trying to eat the cream off of Pacioretty's arm. And since it was Leafs vs. Habs, everyone is blowing everything out of proportion.

Kinda yeah, but I can't say this board wouldn't be close to the same if the Devils had lost a game in similar fashion. Just glad it wasn't NJ, though there's still a game to be played today.

Question of the Day ?

Which is worse ??

Losing like LA did in the final seconds ?

Emotionally, losing in the final seconds because you thought you had a chance and then it was ripped away from you. Getting blown out doesn't hurt as bad because you knew it was over long before the final horn.

Logically, it's the reverse. Losing in the final seconds meant you played well enough to keep it close and lost on a single play. Getting blown out meant you were doing a lot of things wrong and never found a way to adapt.

Being miserable for 60+ minutes and beyond...

Or the instant, crushing weight of defeat all at once?
Hmmm... I go with losing by 4+ as the worse option.

At least they played well enough to win and have some good things to build off of into the next game.

Ya, this is pretty much my thoughts on it too. Getting your hopes up for OT after tying it, then having those hopes dashed, that has to be the worst.

Let's put it this way, which Devils playoff exit hurt worse? 2009 where we were so close to putting it away and then lost, or 2008 where we knew we had no chance after Game 2?

Eh, that's kind of different.
In the regular season, you have the luxury of taking it on a game by game basis, looking to see how you can improve before the test of the playoffs come.
Getting 40+ shots on your competition is a pretty damn good way to try and win a hockey game. That's something to carry over.

In the playoffs, that luxury is gone. You need to power through and big losses are an unfortunate gamble in that they can either deflate a team or motivate them to power through.

On that note, reading through the mainboard, apparently there are some Kings fans on the mainboard who think they can underachieve all season and get hot in the playoffs to win it all again. Harsh reality check upcoming there.

I don't see why the Kings have to worry about this season. They won the Stanley Cup! That buys them at least 3 seasons of slack in my opinion.

In the regular season it's losing in the final seconds no question, because you just miss out on a point.

In the playoffs imo it's getting destroyed, cause then you feel like you don't belong on the same ice. Or to put it another way, would you rather have been a Caps fan in 2009 when they got blown out at home in Game 7, or would you take our gut-wrenching defeat?

Funny thing is Fraser has come in and made a real impact on that team. Leader in plus/minus. Not bad for someone that people here was spitting on like he was the suckiest player that ever sucked.

I thoroughly enjoyed how he destroyed that idiot Prust last night in their fight.

Mark Fraser was known to be that bottom pairing guy that when he was on the ice literally nothing happened. Never a goal scored or a goal against.

He was actually pretty fine in his stint here.

Yep. He was a 7th D, and that is his role. Eat some minutes without getting scored on. And he did that. Plus he always stepped up to fight if needed.

He wasn't very good here, but I'm happy that he is doing well elsewhere. It is odd to see him leading a team in anything though.

Did they get called for to many men for that one. Puck hit him. I can't tell if he was pushed back out or just fell like a lump. Hilarious either way.
