They market exclusively to the Spanish speaking population of SoCal...but nobody is going to travel for their games (meaning their spectrum of influence is about a 10 square mile area of Southern LA) and their alignment with C.D. Guadalajara (same owner, same look, same everything except for Chivas gets far less attention) basically means fans of any other Mexican team hates them to begin with.

The thought was that they could capture the large Spanish-speaking SoCal audience and make the league relevant to them...but instead they're just a joke of a franchise with no fan base because most Spanish-speaking soccer fans here aren't willing to change their allegiances. The idea could have worked if the team was going to be completely independent...but by aligning it with a single Mexican team so thoroughly they really limited their potential.

Yeah, it's like if there was a community of NHL Atlantic Division fans in Mexico and someone started up a hockey team down there called Penguins MEXICO. The Penguins fans wouldn't care, and the fans of the rest of the division would probably support other teams just out of spite.

Yeah, there's no way this happens. Not to mention, any MLS team at Sun Life would be a failure.

Any sports team in Miami is gonna be a failure....its like Phoenix, to many transplants to carry attendance through a whole season.

Oh and Chivas....my god...its bad enough with their stupid marketing policy but this is the second time they've tried this "mexican policy" the first time it failed horribly and now it will again. No, players not good enough to play in Mexico aren't gonna be a top team in the US or even decent...the leagues aren't that far apart....CBus stopped them and they are maybe a decent team....maybe.

Wouldn't it be more prudent to relocate Chivas to Orlando once their stadium is done? The expansion fee for Miami would be a lot higher than one for Orlando.

If Chivas moves it would be to one of the below locations....with the 2nd place getting an expansion team!

St.Louis - Baltimore - Cleveland/Akron - Detroit - Las Vegas - Minnesota - Ottawa - San Antonio - Atlanta - NYC

I would love to get Puerto Rico into the mix but I doubt it. I think expanding into 3 leagues would make MLS very unique and more popular. It would only help football in Puerto Rico as you could have the Islanders move up.

I think San Antonio have to be one of the favorites to get Chivas. The minor league club is drawing close to 10k. NYC2 makes no sense to me unless it's in the city/queens. I think it takes away some supporters from the Red Bulls too. Just my opinion.

The Fire opener is on tv but I had to go on bigsoccer to find out. I called DirectTV and they told me they weren't playing today.

MLS has a ways to go in this country.

I'm guessing Frankie wants to bring MacDonald and/or Alex in around the 60th minute, but it's still stupid

LA hardly looks convincing w/o Donovan and Beckham. Their midfield sucks, sans Juninho.
