Dude is so selfish. First his eye and now this.

But for seriously, one poster mentioned it the the other day that the only problem with Ebbett on the fourth line is that AV could bump him to the second line the second Shredder makes an error.

Good test for Schroeder tonight. I'm sure he'll be going up against some bigger players tonight and we'll see how much size is an issue for him.

Bad news, the shootout has been replaced by a dunk competition

Manny Malhotra will not be in Anaheim tonight. At home with wife Joanne who delivered a baby boy last night. #canucks
Congrat's on the birth of Mini-Manny. Buy him a mini-stick, as it's never to early to teach face-offs.
Do I smell a future prospect thread for 2031???

Canucks 3-2.
That is all.

Posters who think the Canucks just need to do minor adjustments or try a little harder should look at the line-up. On paper, there is no way. The Canucks have somehow managed to show up for the regular season depleted by injury. It sucks, but the team does not have sufficient depth to compensate for the losses to injury.

I already said the Canucks will start one for four and I think this is inevitable. This line-up is just menacled without Centers! Other teams will continue to dominate until roster additions are made. This is a tough, tough schedule to start, for Vancouver. After anahiem they face SJ, then LA! Brutal road trip in any year, but utterly lethal to the lethargic Canucks, notorious slow starters. It is very possible, almost probable, that the Canucks open the season one for seven.

Schnieder must play every night, to protect Luongo's trade value (Risk of injury and the optics of him getting lit up behind this line up) and he'll need to be very impressive to steal games. I hope he can do it. I think it's asking a lot of a new starter and Gillis is remiss in icing this line-up.

Henrik Sedin will tie Stan Smyl for 2nd on the All-Time Games Played list as a Canuck tonight with 896.

He is also only 7 points away from Markus Naslund's franchise points mark. Would be nice to see him get closer tonight.

Really like the OP.

Sucks that Ebbett is playing, Why is Burr getting demoted again?

AV really likes Schroeder.

And congrats to Manny on his new son.

I don't know if I'd call it a demotion. Having the coach trust you enough to play you at center on the shutdown line is a pretty strong vote of confidence. I'm sure he'll get just as many minutes as he would elsewhere in the lineup.

Dr. Burrows might revert to his old Mr. pest again.

Schnieder will be good . The rust is starting to shake off.

I would like to see more of Raymond Schroeder Kassian line put Burrows back up with the twins. Move Higgins into the center.

I don't want that.

I like the clean but gritty Burrows instead.

We'll see what the third line potion does to Mr. Burrows. In fact I do not want it as it is a gamble, on the other hand I would love it if it works out well.

Kassian needs to play in the offensive zone where he can cycle and use his size. The Sedins are a perfect fit for that.

Raymond/Schroeder are more, score off the rush kind of line, although Schroeder seems to be decent at cycling too.

Is this for real? This board has the most educated canuck posters i've seen but this consistent attitude that any line with raymond and the callups is considered the 2nd line is crazy. lol

It is not a demotion. If he was playing on what you guys call the 2nd line, he'd be getting very few minutes. He got 17+ minutes the last game. More than any of the players on the line you call the 2nd.

Are you guys that high on weise and raymond or just that low on Higgins (who was a regular on the 2nd line for quite a while last year and had 18 goals) and Hansen (who had 16 goals LY)

Any line with Higgins and Hansen are the 2nd line until booth and kesler return. Fact. Doesn't matter if they have defensive attributes.

I dont even like the GDT or tv has the lines listed in this way, i think the media spend too much time surfing boards

Weise and Raymond, our 2nd line. come on guys

Schroeder and Kassian had chemistry in the AHL. I would like to see them back together at some point. When Burrows gets going he's a better fit on that 1st line (in that it gives us more options with the rest of the lineup).
