Honestly I think very few people in the media know much more then the average die hard fan, they just have a voice. I know he's not really what comes to mind when you refer to the media but I actually like listening to Gord Stellick. I find he's level headed, doesn't have a constant pessimistic view like most media personalities and doesn't change his outlook from game to game. (Although he did trade Courtnall for Kordic

Cox is an absolute tool. Just a few weeks ago he was writing the praises of why Burke shouldn't have been fired and now he's basicly calling Burke's players out including his captain for being panzies.

Where's the truculence Cox? There is none and that's one of the reasons your BF got fired you jackass!

I remember back in the day when the Toronto Star had great writers like Milt Dunnel Jim Proudfoot Frank Orr and others. Damian Cox is a hack writer and always has been.

I agree. Cox, please shut up! Almost seems like he waits for one of these bad games to rip the team apart.

Dismissing Burkie is the best thing for this team, no distractions. Let it be! Carlyle will work his magic, it's his team.

There is still an unwritten 'code' to the game.

Dion going after Brayden Schenn while Luke watched from the Bench...
Dion fighting that Rookie in his first NHL game with Ottawa
Dion fighting Hartnell while he celebrated scoring a goal
Dion blasting pucks at his own teammates heads on the PP

But last night really takes the cake for me - dirty hit from behind - runs - turns puck over - they score - he runs some more. Chirps from bench.

I try not to be overly negative when it comes to Phil+Dion ... but I honestly do not beleive this team will every play a significant game with either of them in roster.

The problem is these media people do this for a living so they have to come up with now material every day. They also have to sell papers so they make sure their opinion is the loudest and most outrageous. People inherently believe these people must know more then I do or they wouldn't be on TV. In reality they really don't know much more.

Probably has something to do with Dion's Red Bull hat. How can everyone be on the same page if they aren't even wearing the same hats?

Another crap article by one of the biggest tools to ever become a "journalist" (and I use that word lightly).

Cox knows absolutely **** all to begin with, so how would he know that Phaneuf isn't beloved by his teammates? Is Cox in the dressing room? I strongly doubt it.

It was one game, not the end of the world. Leave it to the Toronto media hacks to blow it out of proportion. It's bad enough the Islanders fans are whining like crazy about the hit.

Should Cox wait for a good game to rip the team? If the Leafs play a bad game, are they not worthy of some criticism? It's just one game, let's get ready for some Saturday night hockey. Boy I've missed that.

I've been saying the same thing for a while.

We're going no where with those two as the most important players.

Face it, the Leafs could win the Cup and Cox would still find a way to put them down. He really needs a new hobby. Maybe he should put his efforts into trying to get laid for the first time instead of writing about hockey. It would serve more of a purpose.

Unfortunately we've both been correct for a few years now!

Yeah, Gord often talks about that trade...how he did it to suit John Brophy, his coach. But too often he says things that remind you why he is no longer a GM. Still, Stellick is one of the better ones. Another guy that make some sense to me is Ray Ferrero.

I'd call it knee jerk if this was the first example of this team being incredibly soft.

They've been one of the worst teams in league for going on 8 years now, the softness is a big part of that.

We played well the previous three games and blew one last night. It happens.

A shocking development, Damien.
You think Schenn would have fought Carkner? Not sure what would have been much different about last night if we still had Luke on the roster.

Did Stellick also trade Vaive/Thomas/Root for Eddie O & Al Secord? #worsttrade

3 games?

What about the 574 games over the last 7 non-playoff seasons, there have been countless nights like yesterday.

Blow-outs, blown leads, soft play, poor goal tending.

Wait, we have an incredible game and Toronto does a collective golf clap, then we lose after a tired collapse in a back to back and we are now throwing the whole team under the bus before burning them at the stake?

Classic Toronto media and fans, I'll never get sick of you.

This team has as much to do with those games as it does the 1967 cup.

Made me lol.

Funny how everything changes in one night. Everyone was saying how this looked like a new transformed team that was moulding an identity and committed to defense.

Now this comes out after one loss. LMFAO. What a joke haha
