Player A challenging Player B to a fight is more punishable then Player C jumping in AFTER Player B has already accepted the challenge? Sorry not understanding that one.

Martin didn't jump him, get in his grill and leave him no choice, they were like 10 feet away from each other when they dropped the gloves. Martin challenged him and the other guy stepped up. How else is a fight supposed to start?

Glad there are some guys around here with some common sense when it comes to DP.

Relax.

Just answered his question.

He's been alright so far this game. Not great. Not awful. Made some saves look really good simply because he's still out of position and not as smooth laterally, but we already know this.

Misconducts, not majors.

10's have always been handed out without a minor to go along. Usually they happen at the end of the game as a way for the ref to get someone off the ice without affecting manpower. I agree though that, in this sense, I would have given the Islander player 2, and each Boston player 2, resulting in a 2 min. Islander power play.

Although as an Islanders fan, I'll take Thornton off the ice for 10 minutes any day!

The goal itself was not DP's fault. But as Isles Junkie pointed out (I think it was him), if Ricky plays the puck to AMac instead of trying to throw it up to the redline, there's a good chance that the play winds up going differently. It's kind of baffling that DP hasn't simplified his game. Because he's so broken down, he needs as much time as he can get to set himself back up. Plays like he tried to make lead to quick transitions back into the defensive zone and gives himself less time to get set.

The funny thing is, that play never worked all that often even before the injuries, and actually caused more harm than good. If he was a smart player, he would cut down on the amount of times he tries to make this play, even if he never sustained the amount of injuries as he has.

The problem with the JT line(as far as I can see, at least) is that when Okposo isn't forchecking they are pretty non-existent. Moulson seems to have absolutely no ability to battle for the puck, so when Okposo's not doing it and Johnny is getting double or triple teamed, it's just not gonna work.

I'd like to see a kid like Ullstrom on that line for a little bit. See if he can spark something. Need to get JT going more than anything else, TBH. We will live and die by the success of Hans.

HUUUGGGEEE if here, but just (hypothetically) say that DP can somehow stay healthy going forward. What are the chances he can redevelop his game more conducive to his body style. Would he stand a chance at carving out a decent 4-5 year run as a capable goalie?

Kind of like a pitcher (R.A. Dickey anyone?) who went from a fire baller to something else.

Obviously it's a much different situation in Ricks case because in order to play goalie your body needs to hold up to a lot, and he's had enough trouble during his first go around. But could he maybe become a butterfly type goalie, not his old flop around "athletic" type style and maybe find his niche that way?

This is a serious question btw.

So, booing him will definitely make him better fundamentally---

He's playing well, and we start on the PP--- lets just enjoy the ride !!

He's in the NHL. He's an athlete. If he can't handle it, he shouldnt be playing sports.

Im not saying I actively boo him in the Coliseum, but the people who do are not booing Charles and Garth....

Agreed to a point. If a punch was thrown between Martin and Paille, then Thornton should have gotten 2 plus a game. But that wasn't the case. The refs got kinda of creative. Its not ideal. I would have preferred double minor for Martin and 2 each from Paille and Thornton seeing as nothing was done.

I don't like the fact that players need to answer the bell for clean hits. Other players challenging those players to fights after such incidents need to get punished imo. Which is the primary reason I don't hate the outcome.

Wow it would be INSANELY lucky if Rask kept that out

The way he swung his leg around he knocks that over the line more than not

Ahhh so close!!

Too bad Moulson was the one throwing it at the net and not in front of the net poking away at it, it def woulda been a goal!

I thought he kicked it in, but it looks like it slides along the goal line. Damn

Did anyone else find it funny how everyone was peaking over Rask to see if it went in?

Agreed. But this case also didn't seem to be a situation where if the Boston player didn't drop them that it'd be considered "turtling".
