we have to root for Finley too, guys.

TWO guys we can cheer on to Bridgeport or beyond? (though I have more faith in Finley)

I almost wish he never plays again, because obviously even when he plays well(tonight) the entire GDT is devoted to people hating on Ricky and people defending him. I'm not even that big of a Ricky fan. I stand up for him sometimes when it gets to be a little much, but I'd obviously prefer him not be on this team. I'll be the first to bash him when he lets in soft goals.

That said, he's been decent/good tonight. Definitely better than probably anyone expected. The constant hate though just gets annoying.

DP is fine tonight for his first game back after a long layoff. No worse than Nbakov was last night.

We got sloppy and tired at the end of the 2nd, but let's not let that get in the way of realizing that we controlled the play for at least 14 minutes of that period. I think we are flat out faster than Boston. Hopefully we still have some legs and don't get blown away in the 3rd.

The bigger issue iis that our star ppg player is looking not like himself. JT is 0 for the season in goals, misses the target on many passes, and is not a dangerous factor on most offensive zone plays. WTF is wrong with him right now. getting extra coverage but so are all the stars. he looks out of synch.
JT is fine. Literally the least of our concerns.

DP hasn't been a hindrance so far, which is far better than I expected. Would love nothing more than for him to be the hero of the third

Same here.

Despite the fact that I defend him passionately sometimes I really do think he sucks.

Just as long as he can backup decently...

Obviously everyone roots for every Islander(or at least I hope they do), it's just about criticism. Finley has warranted criticism tonight. DP? Obviously he's had a couple of blunders, but IMO neither goals were soft and he's kept us in the game. That's all I could have asked for going in.

While I hope DP does well, and I think he has been adequate... he is playing as though he is a few millimeters away from letting this game end 5-2

He used to, flopping around the crease. Now, like OTH stated, he's playing more disciplined. He's been OK, giving us a chance. About as much as you can ask someone playing his first NHL game in over a year.

Now we need someone else besides Aucoin to step up and make something happen!

Brilliant question. With this line of thinking, you'd assume Lundqvist's numbers would be 0.00 GAA and 1.000 S%. Sometimes goalies get beat when guys have quality scoring chances. A guy standing all alone 4 feet in front of the net with the puck is a quality scoring chance.
Blinkman I don't know why you bother. The complaints are never ending.

DiPietro's critics expect him to make zero mistakes.

Rask looks just as shaky. We'll get a bounce going our way.

A PP goal here could really set the tone and maybe allow us to bring it to them and turn this into a 10 minute game!
