Players like Westgarth serve little purpose in today's NHL IMO. Guys who can play that role and play consistent minutes (Gleason for example) are irreplaceable.

Prettymuch. If Kirk doesn't trust Westgarth that much then work on his skating in practice and roll out a line with say Welsh or Boychuk with Brent and Dwyer instead.

Instead we're seeing other forwards being double shifted down there when that's unnecessary.
