Sooner or later you will see that Kassian is not the second coming of Jesus. (although he make semi look like him)

Canucks fans; enjoy getting stuck with Luongos terrible contract. I'd rather finish last and get lottery picks before i take on Luongo and spend another 3-4 years in 9th/8th

Looking at the post count of OP, and the quality of the proposal, I am suspicious.

Thank God that's not how things are done in reality.

not even close from Canucks perspective, I would do Kesler straight up for Kessel but I doubt leaf fans consider doing it because of the question marks about Kesler's health

Never. Hamhuis is so underrated beyond words, with Hamhuis Vancouver goes from having one of the best D-Cores in the league to one of the worst, yes he's that important to the team. Kessel is an amazing player Leafs fans so I get why you guys also don't do the deal. Aside from the Sedin's, Hamhuis is the least likely player to be moved.

Didn't realize Hamhuis was so valuable to the Canucks. Always thought Edler was the more gifted/valuable defenseman

Terrrrrrible for the Canucks. We're trading our number 1 defenseman, best young player who has tons of value and Luongo for essentially Kessel? Give your head a shake.

Agreed. I'd be somewhat reluctant to trade Hamhuis straight for Kessel. We get a scoring winger and lose our best defenseman. We upgrade on wing but downgrade significantly on defense. No wonder the Canucks fell apart against the Bruins in the cup finals . Hamhuis got injured in game one......after that I knew we were doomed.

I can envision both fan bases being perturbed by this, so that may mean it is fair value.

The question is, does it help both teams?

It bumps up Toronto's D considerably. And if Kassian works out, then you have better size up front. But it takes away a reliable 30 goal sniper from a team that just lost Lupul for a couple of months and isn't exactly overloaded with offence.

It gets the Canucks out of the Luongo contract, and adds a lumbering but massive defender and a quick threat forward. But it makes a small team smaller up front and there is a concern that subtracting Hamhuis is like subtracting Bieksa as well, given how well Bieksa seems to play with that particular partner.

So, I dunno. Interesting thought.
