Now, you see I think this is an overpayment. And obviously that's not because Zibby's done anything comparable to ROR. Yet. But his ceiling is high.
The Avs are not operating from a position of strength here. Much like Phoenix last year. In fact, I think if Murray had of waited a little he wouldn't have needed to throw in that 2nd round pick in the Turris deal.
I would not trade Zibby for ROR straight up let alone plus the pick. If that's ROR's market value then forget it. I might be inclined to do a Silfver-for-ROR deal. Not sure Colorado would though.
I still stand by Wiercioch + JOB + a 3rd round pick as the absolute highest I'd go for ROR. Maybe in a couple of weeks that will look good to Sherman. Probably not but whatever. We don't absolutely need ROR.
Anyone else see the Hotstove during the Leafs intermission? I missed the start but did they not mention that the Sens were interested in Weiss?
If the cost is okay, Weiss would be a solid #2 centreman as he is really a 1B type of guy right now.
They said the Sens had been mentioned but Murray said he hasn't been in contact at all with Florida and also Tallon said he was not shopping Weiss, his hope is to re-sign him.
My concern with Weiss would be that he would leave in the offseason. I'd rather give up assets for guys we can keep around like Brassard or Umberger. He'd probably like it here though. I'm sure after playing his whole career in Florida, Ottawa might be a breath of fresh air. Plus, we can certainly afford to give him a UFA type deal. Pretty sure he's played the wing in the past too. Hopefully we can avoid dealing Zibanejad or our 1st.
Can Brendan Morrison still play at all? It's been a few years since I've seen him so I'm not sure, but he could potentially add some much needed playmaking and creativity.
I'd ask Toronto about Connolly as well but that's probably a dead end.
Would really like to see some kind of move for Roy, Umberger or Brassard to be honest. I doubt any of those happen. Usually when a trade goes down on our side it ends up being for something out of left field. We'll probably end up with Vermette or something HA HA.
doubt buffalo will ever trade Myers. Especially after paying him 22 million this season. (16m because of the pro rated lock out)
They only pay him 12 mil this season. If you're looking on capgeek, the signing bonus is included in the salary. I believe it would violate the CBA if he made 22mil.
ESPN rumour that Ovechkin has asked for a trade and waived his NTC. THIS is going to be interesting. Toronto, I await your next move. \\probably not legit

No way Ovechkin would do such a thing. Yes I seen the white.

Maybe the Penguins will try and trade for him. They have been looking for a winger for Crosby.
With the new rules on trading contracts, the option of trading Ovechkin becomes possible. Doubt it would ever happen but who knows with the drama that is The Washington Capitals.
His value may never be higher after the start he has had to the season.
Lehner is ready. He almost won the job out of camp and if not for andersons hot start he might have been the starter already.
A good team with goalie issues might be willing to give up an awful lot for him.
It might seem like giving up on the season but with the injuries to cowen and spezza it seems this season is doomed anways. if we could get a top 4 d or top 6 forward or even a top 15 first rounder i would be all for it.
i think its worth discussion at the very least
No.... just no.
We have an elite goal tender who has proven that he can carry a heavy work load (unless his eyes are set on a poultry laden dinner), who can steal games, and provides the team a chance to win every game. You don't trade such goal tenders, you trade for them.
Why would we give a rival what every team covets for potential stop-gaps while relying upon an unproven promising prospect.
SensChirp is saying Murrays talking trade....If the Sens lose this afternoon trade talk will heat up..Talking with the ducks..Perry? that would be sweet..
