There's a chance he comes back for a training camp in the next couple seasons I suppose. That said, I really don't think he'll stick in the NHL. Hopefully for his sake I'm wrong.
Zibanejad/Spezza/Michalek
Filatov/Turris/Silfverberg

That could have been sweet to watch

That's a pretty good deal for Lovejoy.

Ya missed the board, Murray.

Well, at least if we get desperate for a #6 dman, we know the price won't be that high.

Loktionov for a 5th was a surprise. Not that he was traded, but for only a 5th. I'd have looked at that deal.

If we do trade Bishop to Flames, I'd look for a young guy back. Baertschi would be out of the question, but I wonder about Backlund (may need to add a5th or something) and if not him then or maybe Jankowski or Rheinhart to address our centre depth.

Dunno why everyone is so surprised about Lok. Small, not bottom 6 material. The scoring potential is looking dimmer and dimmer every year, his numbers are down and not looking good at all. Dunno what the fuss over this guy is. Classic not good enough for the top 6 and not suited for the bottom 6. These guys are everywhere

I think he was lazy as he was buried by Kings. Filatov syndrome maybe? He asked for the trade, I'm interested to see if he wakes up for the Devils. I think he might for a while.

In reference to the O'Reilly situation:

Quote:
Here are the draft pick compensation figures for the 2012-13 season:

$1,110,249 or below – No Compensation

Over $1,110,249 to $1,682,194 – 3rd round pick

Over $1,682,194 to $3,364,391 – 2nd round pick

Over $3,364,391 to $5,046,585 – 1st round pick, 3rd

Over $5,046,585 to $6,728,781 – 1st round pick, 2nd, 3rd

Over $6,728,781 To $8,410,976 – Two 1st Round Picks, 2nd, 3rd

Over $8,410,976 – Four 1st Round Picks
That's actually not that bad...I mean, especially for a team with cap space. If he keeps up his play from last year he's easily worth 3 - 5 and Ottawa could afford it while also having the assets to move. Chances are Ottawa is going to finish outside of the bottom 15 this year if they get him and he's probably better than anything they could get with that 1st rounder anyway.

I'd go for it. Turris could probably be converted to the wing when Spezza gets back and actually be a great first line winger.

Turris - Spezza - Michalek
Silfverberg - O'Reilly - Alfredsson

Or if O'Reilly can play on the wing:

Michalek - Spezza - Silfverberg
O'Reilly - Turris - Alfredsson

Dernerner.

Size matters, which is why Montreal, Buffalo & most other NHL teams are all looking to get bigger.

But it's not just size for size sake, it's a combination, a blend of size & skill that makes a difference which Ottawa seems to be slowly putting together.
