Well here in St John's it's 6287 every night, no discounted tickets, 15k 50/50 prize, and from what I hear 800 dozen beer sold at the main bar alone. 50 odd consecutive sell outs and pretty much guaranteed to be sold out until the end of the 2013-2014 season

PS Looks like about 7K in Jobbing again tonight.
The official attendance will be listed at http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreport...3/GS020075.HTM BTW, Columbus didn't do too well tonight, drawing only 10,475 fans versus Dallas. See http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreport...3/GS020074.HTM

Let me see, St.Johns IceCaps: lot's of hockey fans, every game sold out, team profitable but the teams in a hockey market, what a novel idea.

PS Wednesdays at Jobbing are college night, with valid student ID you get any seat in the house for $25, sweet!

Yeah but you could also buy a $3 seat higher up and just move down instead.

Save yourself a whole $22! In this broken economy it goes a long way.

Good point, save the $22, take your girl to the Fort McDowell casino for all you can eat crab legs and buffet ($9.99) before the game, you still have a couple of bucks left for two beer ($1. beer), good times!

Honestly, I dont know what it is about Phoenix and attendance.

Look at this and look at the number 2 team, i know its early in the season, but its still impressive. Now look at #30 and how far it is below 29

http://espn.go.com/nhl/attendance/_/sort/homePct

Even Florida seems to be doing OK with attendance thus far. I really dont get whats wrong with the city and the hockey team. They are winning now, and they've been good for a few years, yet they still dont have the fans.

Is the ownership that bad, we know its not the team. I just cant imagine that a city of 1 million + cant fill a large part of a 17k arena on a solid basis. Were not talking about a small market.

Maybe a more aggressive ad campaign would help? I really dont know, but if other sunbelt teams can make it happen (granted, with some bumps), than why cant Phoenix do it, especially if theyre winning.

Market saturation in an area that was hit hard by the recession. Sporting entertainment dollar might only be able to stretch far enough to hit one team. Very few choose to put that dollar on the NHL. Plus moving the team to Glendale moved the team farther from the fanbase they established in downtown Phoenix. They had to move because of the arena, though.

All true, although they do play right next to the Cardinals stadium, so obviously its not that inconvenient.

I just feel that they should be able to draw more than an AHL level crowd based on other sunbelt cities and their recent history. Am I the only one? They have one of the biggest cities in the country. Maybe more hispanic outreach? Obviously being so close to the mexican border they must have a good size latino population.

It's all about the $$$ they get from it. Try to compare a 12k crowd paying 25$ per ticket vs a 17k crowd paying 80$ (average). Attendance (alone) isn't the only issue.

The Coyotes are doing many promotions to sell tickets at low prices so you see people in the arena but they don't make alot of money from them.

So what happened between being "on verge" and today?

As far as figuring out their roles... I'm thinking it's more about figuring out who gets saddled with what % of the losses going forward. Assuming there is a "group" of investors buying this team ( with Jamison as the public leader ) there is more to a deal like this then just breaking down the ownership percentages, especially when there are going to be significant losses involved, at least for the next few years.
Put it under the column along with "imminent" and "two weeks"

It'll get worse Wednesday when the Oilers come to town while the Suns play the Lakers across town.

No it won't. Oilers are historically a good draw. Lots of snowbirds here. Also, Suns are ******* this year.

Are you saying Walt Disney is frozen in the ice of the Jobing Arena? And that by the Coyotes staying there, they keep the ice from thawing, sparing the world from the rampage of an undead Walt Disney?

GWI took a huge hit in PR over this locally. They ignored City of Mesa putting up roughly $100 million to build a new facility for the Chicago Cubs and hand them the keys. They have a board member who's husband co-owns the MLB franchise in town which wants to have the City of Phoenix hand over a publicly-funded stadium to their complete control without compensation. But they have time to sue Glendale for a gift clause violation??

Still... they may go ahead and sue anyway. But it won't happen unless they think they can get mileage towards locking down the gift clause tight, or score some big donations.
