My own sources are so good and so close to the situation that I dare not even offer a prediction on what's going to happen without losing my sources. All I can say is I hope the sale closes on time and I will be disappointed if it doesn't, and you read that here first!

I went to a Buck Bash game. The beers weren't worth $0.50. I switched to real (regular priced) beer.

Oh please let him close the deal this week!

I'm a glutton for punishment, and I feel there will be many much more interesting twists and turns in the future if he manages to close the deal.

I think we get to march our way back to court if he manages to close the deal.....

LMAO, every year we read, Coyotes season ticket sales are up, Coyotes have a bigger increase in ticket sales than any other team. After 4 years of increased season ticket sales in record numbers, they get 8500 out for a game?

"We are not there yet," he said. "If he doesn't put the deal together, we won't go down that road again with him. Obviously if we can keep the Coyotes here under different circumstances and without that same deal it is certainly something I would like to push forward with."

We will see in a couple of days if the Mayor has to play this card or not.

So exciting.....

Only sad thing about attendance is that in pictures on the net you can see people in the higher levels not even bothering getting down closer to the action. If you know you haven't sold more than 10k, why not allow people to experience those more expensive tickets by allowing them to get down.

Because they did not pay for the better ticket. Not to mention the fact it would piss off the people who actually paid more money for the better ticket.

If people that spend $25 for tickets were always allowed to move down to sit in the $100 seats, why would anyone ever buy the $100 seats? They wouldn't. If you want to sit closer to the action, then pay the higher price. If I was sitting with my face to the glass and had paid appropriately to sit there, then found out the guy sitting beside me had paid for a nose bleed seat, but moved down... the team would be getting a very nasty letter from me.

This is not unique to the Coyotes. Almost no arena allows people to move down.

They certainly do it in Florida. I've been a couple times around Christmas. Last time I saw a Pens-Panthers game and it was depressingly empty... we went down to ice level after getting our tickets for 7 bucks at the gate... 5 minutes before the game started. In a way, it's fair for tickets to be this cheap over there. The experience is far from being as great as it is in more traditional markets with an arena filled to the brim... you miss out on a lot of the experience without the crazy atmosphere.

But if done right, there's some logic behind powerstruck's idea. For instance, have no restrictions after the first period of games through February; sit in your assigned seat for the first period, then allow free movement to the lower bowl if no one's in that seat. After February, restrict movement without a proper ticket. It might be a way to boost higher-end ticket sales, and they surely could use that.

There are exceptions. Most places see a problem with making the people that pay a lot to watch the games ( any sport ) pissed off by letting people move down to better seats. Some places don't care.

Like I said... If I'm a STH that pays a lot to sit down low, and people sitting around me are buying on the cheap and moving down, I'm cancelling my STs. Get enough people to send this message to the club and they will stop people from moving down.

But then who would buy lower bowl tickets? I mean, there was that promotion not too long ago where they gave you a pair of upper bowl tickets for buying cheap beer.

Totally agree with you. I have upper bowl seats and there were quite a few empty seats starting one row above us, and we got to our seats before the puck drop, and there was some guy in one of my seats, sitting near his buddies, thinking I'm sure it was all fine because of all the empty seats around us. The folks who have two seats next to us on the aisle were not there yet, so instead of being a complete tool, I told the guy he could use our one seat until they showed up. The folks next to us never showed up, but he left after the first period and did not return - moved somewhere else I guess I wasn't sitting next to him and only noticed he didn't come back after the first intermission.

But it bugs me when it happens. I'm there to watch the game in my seats and I don't care how the stands look on TV back in Toronto or New York City. To the guys who think they can just plop their behind anywhere, if you can't sit in the one you're ticketed for, go home, I won't miss you. And if the guy who is ticketed for the seat you plopped down shows up, don't ask him to move one over and let you squat in his seat, move your butt to where it belongs.

I wouldn't feel any more charitable if my seats were in the lower bowl.

And that goes to the bigger issue... if people aren't buying the seats, then maybe you have a problem.

The real issue isn't.... does the team allow people to buy cheap upper deck seats and move down to the lower seats.... the freaking team / owner should be asking themselves... why is it even possible for people to move down?

Now you're thinking! It's like that movie half-baked where Thurston takes Mary-Jane out on a date with $8.00 in his pocket. He was down to like $0.50 until he stuck his hand into a homeless guys cup and came out with $4.52.

Not very nice, but damn funny.

Oh I agree, but don't kid yourself, it happens quite a bit in the Job.

We did it last year, in fact the whole night (dinner, game, drinks) only cost me $80 and we sat 2 rows up from the ice.*

*I'm not proud of these actions, considering what I pay in season tickets for the Jets.

Not sure what you mean? Should the arena be segregated like the MTS Centre?

I was just trying to point out that it is something that could be done as a promotional tool. Hell, I've done it a few times in Quebec at Remparts games when there is only 9000 people in the building and there are free places with a better view than what I paid for.

He is talking about why the arena is empty in the first place? That should be corrected before worrying about the guy from the nose bleed seats that is moving down because no one else is around him.

Are things really happening the way they seem to be? Jamison dodging questions, not revealing investors yet, not showing the money, not signing on the dotted line until the last minute?

Why do I get the feeling the old man will be having a nap Thursday afternoon, wake up late, run out of the hotel with his glasses on upside down, get half way to where he needs to be, realize he left the ownership papers on the desk, and screw this up?
