Kessel's total points by Kadris current age (22 yrs 4 months) - roughly 180 points

Kadri has less games played by 22 than Kessel played in his rookie season with Boston.

Here is the source , probably should have just posted this
@jonasTSN1050: Carlyle has nicknamed Kadri 7-Eleven, "because he thinks I'm always open, well I think I'm always open."

I thought we were lacking bluechip offensive prospects..

Nazem Kadri & Matt Frattin are making them look silly

Missed the game. How did B. Schenn look compared to Kadri?
Nice to see that Frattin is tearing it up. Dream team.

BS looks like a young man trying to find his feet in the pro league. NK looks like he already found his.

He is been great, words can't describe how great that pass he made to MacArthur yesterday. Great play all-around from Frat to Naz to Mac.

Leafs need to sign Kadri to a long term deal

I think it would serve the Leafs best to lock up Nazem Kadri to a 4-6 year deal (whichever deal that still keeps him an RFA) worth 3.5M/ year in the offseason rather than giving him a bridged contract.

Kadri has been on of our best players so far and I think giving him a JvR/Turris/Couture type deal would greatly benefit the Leafs in the long term.

Look at JvR...we have him locked up for 5 more years after this season at a reasonable cap hit of 4.25M. He could easily score 30+ goals with the Leafs 2-3 times during that contract and he's only 22/23 right now.

Turris was acquired by the Sens and he had 29 points last year and the Sens locked him up at 3.5M quickly so they don't have to give him 4.5-5M+ when he's playing in his prime.

Couture is signed for another year at 2.875M...he originally signed a 3 year deal after he broke out.

Kadri would be a steal @ 3-3.5M a year or two from now.

I think the Leafs have seen enough of Kadri to know that he'll be a very valuable player in the future.

I say Nonis tries to get him so hes still RFA at the end of the next deal (4 years I think?)

Nonis has a lot of decisions to make this summer and a chance to show his worth as a GM.

I don't. I think this is a thread best saved for the offseason.

let him play out this seasonfirst . If he pots like 35-40 points in a shortened season playing 3rd line minutes, then I'll be with you but for less money though (2.4-2.8). Let's not forget that he's not matching up against the other teams top d pairs, top units so far.

he'll most likely get a bridge contract, 2 years between $2.75-$3.5 per (depending on how the rest of the season goes). He'll be an RFA at the end of that.

Just give him the Couture/Turris type deal this offseason. My main concern is how much will Leo Komarov cost to keep.

Let's hope so.

Leafs overpaid Schenn when he was RFA. A defensive D that didn't defend well got 3.6M.

He's an RFA. He probably gets like a 2-3 year deal worth 1-1.5M...I can't imagine anyone in the KHL giving him that, so he'll definitely stay.

Kadri and Frattin are NHL players now, that's all there is to it. But lets not mistake their current play for them having been overlooked when they were ready before. They weren't. This is their breakout season and they're helping each other accomplish it.

As the first poster here that pointed out I see a lot of similarities of Doug Gilmour in Kadri's game, that pass was exactly what Dougie did here with us in the 92-93 seasons. Those that weren't born then, Gilmour had that uncanny instinct to find the open man, he also used the saucer pass to perfection in his time. Mostly to Dave Andreychuk.

We don't want to get ahead of ourselves, because there will always only be one Gilmour, but Kadri as Gilmour lite, not far fetched, has the same build, elusiveness on ice, and fire. Nazem just needs to become half the leader as Dougie was, and we will have a heck of a player here. What he has instinctively on the offensive side, he can transfer defensively by anticipating passes to break up plays. This is what made Gilmour so great, best 2 way player in his time by his great hockey instincts.

If Kadri can add to his upper body strength, the sky is the limit, needs to get just a little stronger, another year with Roberts.

Also on re-watching that MacArthur goal from last night:

Am I the only one who's actually more impressed with Frattin on that play than Kadri? Don't get me wrong, that was a beauty of a saucer-pass. But look at the work Frattin does to retrieve the puck and then that no-look backhand pass through the defender's legs. Damn. What a beast.

Frattin and Kadri are like Batman and Robin.

They simply know what the other guy is going to do.
