He wasn't handled properly under Wilson? I wasn't Wilsons biggest fan, but give credit where credit is due. He put Gardiner in a place where he could succeed and he did. Handled Gardiner very well last year.

Leafs' kadri credits coach carlyle for early-season success

Awesome article. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=414474

What a great guy Naz is, he gives a lot of credit to coaches and his teammates more so than himself.

And some people around here thinks he is selfish, and only thinks of himself.

Kadri on Carlyle:

Quote:
He makes me feel like I belong here and I can be a big contributor here and I feel like that as well. As a young guy I just needed others to believe in me as well.
"He (Carlyle) explains everything he does, even if you don't get the minutes you want there's an explanation for it, a reason for it," Kadri said. "And he'll come tell you personally, it's not beating around the bush sending someone else to come preach."

After 4 games:

Summary-

Kadri has made 2 passes that only a select few players can do, the pass to Macarthur's goal and Frattin's. Needed to see a replay to appreciate those plays. Pretty special. I made this comparison before, and I am not comparing him to Killer (Gilmour) but offensively he reminds me of this player the most.

Killer was not fast, didn't have the hardest shot, nor was he the strongest player, all he did was create offence whenever he was on the ice.

Kadri has the same type of profile, vision, hands, instincts, gritty play. He is still a halfway finished project with the Leafs. His defensive play has improved miles since he first was up, he is a lot stronger, skates better, he just needs to maintain this. And continue to focus on the little details in becoming a consistent top 6 fwd. I am not sure he will ever become a great face-off man, but it is a skill he can improve on with work. It all starts with defence and Nazem has to continue to buckle down on the 200 ft game. Thus far he has been very promising, sure he will have a rough game here and there, but playing all 48 games this year and not being yo yo'd under Wilson and Burke will go a long way in the investment for Kadri next year. Legitimate Top 6 Center pretty soon if he continues to progress.

Eakins gets a lot of credit for helping develop Kadri, when he was torn down by Wilson and Burke, he put the lego pieces back together.

BTW-Most of you are giving up on Reimer WAY too fast as well. He has the upside of being a #1 goalie. The only time in his entire career he's played poorly was after getting hit in the head by Gionta.
Month by month breakdown of his 2010-2011 season: .932, .926, .913, .909

Devils advocate: Reimer got hot and was cooling off when the year ended.

Some fans were just too impatient thinking he should have been given a spot on the team without earning it.

He's looking much better now, and patient fans are being rewarded fore being patient, and not wanting to Schenn him.

Great observations. Again showing why you're one of the best scouts on here. Although I disagree with you when it comes to Grabo .

Of course he did. Do you remember Schenn's comments after Wilson got fired and Carlyle got hired? Schenn is a class act so he didn't trash the guy, but he said some alarming things about how he was handled. Wilson would bench him repeatedly without even speaking to him.

It makes me sad because I wonder if we had hired Carlyle sooner maybe Schenn could've had a different fate. Carlyle would've been the perfect coach for him.

Could have hired Hitchcock after he was relieved of his duties in Columbus. But Burke didn't look outside his personal group of friends.

Grabo has played very well the last 2 games, will give credit when a player deserves it.

5.5M that is for another discussion.

The acquisition of Jordan Staal and Alexander Semin made them a better team.

No I mean currently. Same games played, same amount of point, same row, no games between them and Leafs have a better goal differential, yet they are 9th?

I think Kadri-Kessel are going to be dynamite together offensively when ever they get the chance. It's just they would need a big guy on the left wing and I don't no if we have that guy. Kulemin and JVR come to mind but really a Lucic or Clowe would be more ideal considering how soft those two are.
