Like I said last night. Lehtonen is the reason this isn't a lottery team. They may squeak into the playoffs but I'm still not buying it. They haven't played San Jose or LA yet. They've mainly played the bottom to middling teams and have looked equally as bad as good most nights. If a decent deal comes along for any of the defenders not named Dillon, Daley, or Oleksiak then they've got to make it and not worry about depth. Their focus needs to be on next season & beyond rather than the crapshoot of the next 30 games.

I would just like to reiterate how much I want Seth Jones on this team.

As an unsigned RFA, you can talk with him whenever you want. It's kind of what Toronto did with Kessel. Worked out a contract with him( but didnt have him sign an offersheet) and then made the trade with Boston.

Oh okay. I thought it was trade first and then negotiations with Kessel. It's the negotiations I wish we can avoid having just gone through one of them and let Colorado handle that a la Ottawa with Hossa.

That hope ended when the lock out did.

#1 overall may be unrealistic but a bottom 5 finish isn't. We are 5 points out of last place and most of the teams below us have games in hand.

This is our schedule for the rest of the season.

Kings x5 (1 B2B)
Sharks x4 (1 B2B)
Ducks x4 (1 B2B)
Canucks x3
Predators x3
Blues x2 (1 B2B)
Blackhawks x2
Wild x 2
Avalanche x2
Flames x2
Jackets x2 (1 B2B)
Red Wings x1
Coyotes x1
Oilers x1

We have 34 games remaining on the season. 23 of those 34 are against the Sharks, Ducks, Canucks, Predators, Blues, and Hawks. Of those 23, 4 are back to backs.

This schedule is ****ing brutal and this team is in a lot of trouble. If Kari goes down then God help us.

That's the only way we're finishing even close to bottom 5.

They probably take MacKinnon and Drouin.

But remember, the draft is like the NBA now. They could have the best 2 chances and lose.

That's really the only way I see Jones falling past 2, is if Columbus (or another team, somehow) ends up with #1 and #2. Those two together on a team would be ridiculous. That, and Columbus seems like they've got a good D core going forward, really lacking forwards.

So for all the team's problems, after the 10 road games in the first 15, we're 8-6-1 with a -1 GD. Not a horrible start for having half of our road games completed.

That's insane we've already played half our road games.

I distinctly remember most of us agreeing that if we were at least .500 or better at around this point, we'd be good to go.

Hope that's still around.

We're also averaging 3 goals per game this month, including being shut out in Phoenix. That's a very good change.

Yeah, I noticed that Benn was 51% on the dot when I was looking through his stats last night and he was over 60% against Vancouver. I'm quite surprised because obviously that's always been a weak part of his game, but you can definitely tell, during the games, he is winning a lot more faceoffs.

I'm glad to see him developing more and more as a center.

The best thing about Steve Ott was his ability to win faceoffs from the wing position. I'm really excited about Chaisson having an opportunity to fill that role, and add a right shot guy to take faceoffs.

Movements

I know this is probably the wrong place to put this. But I am curious if anyone has heard of any trades that are going down with the Dallas Stars and other teams? I don't want to put this in the Trade Rumors and Specs page because it gets spammed with BS.

If Kari is on IR there is a roster spot open, and only 6 defenseman so maybe there is something brewing?

Hi,

seeing as Morrow is 34 and heading to UFA this summer, would you guys entertain trading him for younger players?

If so, what are your needs?

cheers

Yea, pretty easily.

LWs and picks, if he'll waive his NTC.
