I think you guys have alot of hate for Franson. He played well last game.
Gardiner needs to work on his defensive game, he is too up on the play and needs to learn he is a defenceman. Unreal offensive skill though, obviously.
As several have said, this is about conditioning and getting back into game shape after a long absence for injury. He wasn't great but wasn't terrible either in his two games, but he is more likely to improve if he gets his timing and confidence back in a low pressure situation.
Funny his play last night bugged me, and Ill be the first to admit he hasn't been used right here.
Franson needs a change of scenery.
I think he has a good skillset offensively, but he just seems dumb as nails on the ice. If he could skate better it would help his cause, but he doesn't have that going for him.
Where as Komisarek actually thinks the game pretty well, he just have any skills lol
Franson is still a promising player, but he just simply does not fit here. Nonis should trade him to another team where he gets a better opportunity to play.
I think leafs management want to showcase the extra D we have, and since Gardiner can clear waivers it only makes sense to send him down for a few days while a trade is in the works.
the Leafs are not showcasing anything people. This is the NHL, every team has scouts, every scout watches games. Theyre not gonna learn something from a dman in the next week they wouldnt already know. Stop thinking life is like NHL 13 and understand a player coming back from a significent injury doesnt have the legs under him. Instead of being overwhelmed in the NHL he can get it back in the minors and come back up.
Its simple. Stop over analyzing things internet GMs.
I don't mind. Give him a game in the AHL, Komisarek and Franson are both in, Fraser sits. There's no need at the moment to call someone up for the next game.
If they are calling a forward up and this is to make room for it, please, no Connolly.
I agree with his demotion. Based on his uncharacteristic sub par performances thus far, the kid obviously needs a few a games with the Marlies under his belt to round back into form.

He was out to lunch last night i thought. His chase into the corner last night on one goal left the slot open for two Islanders on one play. His passing was off,and he didn't skate hard. He wasn't the only one though.
Give Franson some consistent minutes over the next few games and evaluate his play. For a big body guy he is pretty damn soft. If nothing changes get rid of him. Pretty sure Detroit is in dire need of some dman, unfortunately i dont think you can get much for him even though there is/can be some potential there
As for Gards, not too worried, dominate the AHL for a week or two while Kostka does nothing and then Gards will be playing with Phanuef ORRRRRRRR reunite Gunner with Phanuef i always liked that combination and put phaneuf back on the right side on the PP and get those one timers going.
Nonis mentioned a trade of dmen coming. That being the case -- it isn't Gardiner -- but one of Liles, Franson or Gunnar. Sorry Komi haters -- no value there -- but hey you never know. If it's going to happen Franson, Gunnar, Liles etc ALL need to play and be evaluated by other GMs. Sitting one each night doesn't help them.

Yeah, but if we're trading a d-man....shouldn't we keep Gardiner up to take his place? Perhaps I'm wrong about this, but that's the first thing that comes to mind.
