What good would aquiring Luongo or any other goaltender do when the team can barely
manage two goals a game.
The worst part about this team is you just know McPhee/Leonsis wont lift a finger
at the trade deadline or during free agency to improve things.
"Well there wasnt anybody available who is better than the guys we already have and we
like the team we have. Our players just have play better."
God I want to puke just thinking about it.

You can count on GMGM jumping on whatever 3rd/4th liner is available.

Well Bob Mckenzie has reported Mike Gillis and the Canucks assistant GM are at Verizon center scouting the Caps game...

Yeah, they do but I can see it as a desperate move towards legitimacy.

Though I suppose if you're ownership being asked to take on such a contract one year after trading a current young starter you may have some questions.

#Caps have not have single conversation about Roberto Luongo with #Canucks. Any trade speculation is unfounded.

Hahah you actually expect them to come out and say "oh you guys caught us, we're trying to trade for Luongo." They're obviously not gonna say whether its true or not. So you just have to wait and see

Making no comment on it would have made more sense than strongly denying it. I want to believe Gillis was using them to artificially inflate demand in Lou (because that would be hilarious), but a strong denial almost makes it seem like that's actually the case, and that they're annoyed by it.

Lets be realistic but if the caps do not get at least 4 wins in the next 2 weeks it is time to write the season off.

Why make silly desperation moves now we can not afford it not like we are missing one piece. It is about getting the star players to perform again.

Decision on Ribeiro needs to be made sooner rather than later. Either he signs a contract or he is gone before / at trade deadline. He should actually bring good return as he is actually performing if we can not sign him to a contract.

GMGM better sort out the situation on D before Orlov returns. Get some futures and well done.

I can't be the only one thinking that all the strong denial of this is a bit weird?

It's definitely odd for me. It either means they want to downplay their interest to make some other sort of move easier, or they're legitimately annoyed at being dragged into the conversation and want to kill it as quickly as possible.

Two extremes, and that response doesn't make sense for any of the middle ground options I think.

Hmm, well its just me but I think they're interested in Lu. Just won't know for sure until something happens

I speak McPheese. This can only mean one thing: Eric Belanger trade to Caps is imminent.

So a Cap question....Luongo's actual salary is a total of 6 million for the last 4 years....if the Caps did pick him up, buying him out in 2018-2019, would only cost 2/3 of the 6 million right?

At this point we have one average NHL backup in Neuvy and one AHL flash in the pan in Holtby.

that is an incorrect reading imo. holtby is having the typical sophmore struggles.
neuvirth has been fine.

schneider is 2-2, 3.13, .897
neuvirth is 1-3-1, 2.97, .899

when you consider schneider has a shutout mixed in his play has been worse than neuvirth

Even Jim Carey was decent for a while until the league figured him out. Holtby deserves the bench or the Bears starting job if you reward playing time based upon recent performance. He's been beyond putrid. This team doesn't have time to deal with sophmore slumps in a shortened season.

Trade for a starter and move Holtby to the perm backup spot if you think he's still got a chance to be a legit NHLer.

Once again, making my argument for me. Schneider is irrelevant.

Neuvirth has been the better of the two by far but he's still on the wrong side of average statistically.

2.97 GAA 27th/39
.899 save % 25th/39

Those are ok numbers if you're a backup getting 20 starts a year.
