Players on Two Different Teams Two Times
How many players played on two different teams during two periods of time?
For example, Kovalev was on the Rangers, then the Penguins, then the Rangers again, and eventually found his way back to the Penguins.
This has to be extremely rare.

Geoff Sanderson with Columbus and Vancouver, despite only playing 22 games total for Vancouver and only 2 games for Columbus during his 2nd stint.
Marty McSorley for Pittsburgh and LA.
Wade Brookbank for Ottawa and Vancouver in a two-week stretch in 2003-04 as teams played waiver ping-pong with him, although he was only 'team property' rather than playing games.

Petr Nedved
He was traded from St. Louis to the Rangers.
TRaded from the Rangers to the Pens, then traded back to the Rangers.
Rangers traded Nedved to the Oilers and near the end of his career the oilers picked him up on waivers from Philadelphia.

Shawn McEachern
1991-92 and 1992-93 in Pittsburgh, then part of 1993-94 and 1994-95.
1995-96 in Boston, and 2005-06 as well.
To get him from and back to Pittsburgh involved trading him for Marty McSorley both times.
Marty McSorley
1983-84 and 1984-85 with Pittsburgh, then part of 1993-94
1988-89 through 1993-94 with Los Angeles, then 1994-95 and 1995-96.
To get those two stints with both Pittsburgh and Los Angeles involved him being traded for Shawn McEachern.

As pnep shows, McSorley also played with the Oilers on two seperate occasions, some 15 years apart.
