Was wondering when this thread would pop up.

Anyone else a tad concerned this is Bob's answer to our lack of toughness?

This isn't an answer to our anything. This is for Norfolk.

As long as fat loser is coach no chance of tough players cracking the lineup on a consistent basis

I'm okay with this, as long as they don't see any major time for the big club.

That's my assumption as well, and my hope.

I only say that because Bob wanted more toughness, and although both of these guys are basically career AHLers, they do have NHL experience. It just worries me, you know how Bargain Bin Bob can be.

If Maroon isn't a regular in the lineup this year, I'm going to be completely on the fire BB bandwagon. Last year we went the whole year without a real physical presence, and I'm getting sick of it!

I'm the only one on these forums that feels this way, but I am 100% FINE with no Maroon on our NHL club.

I deeply hope he proves me insanely wrong.

You'd seriously rather have DSP over Maroon?

So then who would you rather have in the lineup over Maroon?

No clue. Still plenty of time between now and training camp. We may sign additional players, another play may step up during preseason, etc.

I don't have all the answers, just as you don't. I do have an opinion though, and that's all I was stating.

Gotcha. Was just wondering if you had a different idea for a physical player. I think this team needs more toughness

Unfortunately, no. We don't seem to have too much in the pipeline of the type of player we need.

Our team's play as a whole has become a bit less tough as well, which bothers me. Beleskey can't be the only one who hits/fights.

I have nothing against Maroon, I just would hope for something better. I don't see the fascination with him, unfortnately. I truly do hope he proves me wrong, makes the team, and has a killer season. That'd be ideal - I'm just not so sure if that will really happen.

Even with Maroon, I would still feel we'd need to PLAY tougher, with more bite.

Maroon will be in our lineup. We signed him to a one-way contract, did we not?

Laganiere? Wagner? Noesen?

Thank you for correcting me. I meant that could step in this coming season. From most accounts, all those players are looking good, but not completely NHL ready, or am I wrong (haven't been following those guys too closely)?

Yep he's on a 1 way next season so unless he is awful in training camp will be in Anaheim. He looked very good in a depth role last season I have no issue with him making the team. The fact that he may have some untapped offensive potential is a bonus.

I couldn't tell you about Laganiere or Noesen, since they don't have pro resumes, though it sounded like they want Noesen to add some size before they bring him up. We do have those players in the pipeline.

I personally think Maroon is our new Parros, except with more of an offensive upside. Guy's a heavyweight and fought Konopka twice while he was called up. He'll prove that he's ready to be up with the big club with his size and grit.

That's what I thought too. He'll be on the line-up, but could also be a healthy scratch.

Maroon is far from a heavyweight and Konopka is a middleweight
Maroon is a much needed addition to this team though

If Maroon is not going to make the team and some "soft" (any professional athlete is harder than I ever will be) player is, then I am going to join you in your harsh criticism of the coach. I look at his fighting only as a bonus, I am more interested that he hits the opposing defence, causes turnovers and gets everyone nice and tired for the first/second line.

BTW, I highly doubt any coach in the league would not take a player like Thornton on his 4th line.
