Has anyone on here seen much of Samuel Morin from Rimouski?
I've seen him twice live and maybe 4 other times on streams/TV.
He's a very fluid skater. He's very raw but I could see him develop an offensive game. If he gets meaner, he will be a force à la Zadorov. Could see it happen too. He's a riser, and could very well end as a 1st rounder at the end of the year.
On another note, saw Diaby play today, and if he's there in the third round, jump on him. One of his teammate got hit in the back by Desbiens and Diaby came to defend said teammate. Wasn't fair. Yes Desbiens is only 6', but a pairing of Diaby and Tinordi would be awesome in the NHL. He's usually well positionned and is a good skater for a big guy, although not on Morin's level. He already has his physical game develop and I could see him develop in a bottom 4 defensive D that is physical.
I don't know about that. I haven't seen him play that much, mind you. But he didn't seem to me to be a first round talent.
Does he hit often?
His skating seemed to be his biggest asset, alongside his work ethic.
I don't feel he has the hands nor the hockey IQ to get picked in the 1st. But that was from a very small sample.
I thought their picks lately have been rather good.
Agreed about the Jackets. It's their lottery picks that they screw up or play too safe. Rounds 2-7 are solid all around.
About Lazar, he's not overly physical but he's a tough and gritty Western kid. Does not shy away from anything. Hockey IQ is definitely high and you can see it in his defensive play. Creativity is sometimes questioned imo. Saw him live a few times and I gotta say his problem is inconsistency. His offence is a big ? because he could really blossom in the next few years or his ceiling could remain as a 3rd liner.
I personally see a lot of Peverley in him and I predict a similar ceiling.
Lazar's game screams pro-level and will translate very well to the next level. His hockey IQ is what scouts love about him, as he does so many little things well. Details that aren't necessarily reflected in stats but that help a team win games. His current scoring streak only cements him as a top-15 pick IMO.
I believe the Habs will finish 10th overall...therefore should pick around 20th...should consider Gauthier, Erne or Hartman...their game translates well to the pro level...our three second round picks should be Anthony Duclair, Laurent Dauphin and Nicholas Petan.
If any of these three guys are already chosen...go with Samuel Morin.
If Shea Theodore is available still in the 2nd round the Habs should make him their pick, he's going to be really good in the NHL. Carrier and Dauphin also with Morin would make excellent 2nd & 3rd round picks for the Habs.
