D Chris Butler

G Ben Bishop
3rd round pick

Calgary needs a reliable backup. Butler was recently a healthy scratch, and with Anton Babchuk due back soon, the Flames will have 8 defensemen on their roster.

Ottawa needs an experienced d-man.

Thoughts??

No interest in Butler, let alone adding a pick.

I don't know much about Bishop, can a Sens fan give me a report on him?

Yeah, no thanks to Chris "minus 8" Butler. Bishop has more value than a bottom-pairing D.

I like Butler, but if anything I would expect the pick to be coming the Sens way.

Butler isn't worth Bishop OR the 3rd round pick alone to Ottawa.

Its not even an offer, Bishop is not at all what Calgary needs short or long term.

Butler is just fine where he is

If Butler isn't good enough to make the Calgary roster then I have no interest in adding him to the Sens.

He has played 2 of 3 games so far. Every night a different defenseman has been a healthy scratch. I wouldnt read to much into that being a permanent move

Definite no on the Sens behalf.

On another somewhat related note, why did the Flames trade Reghr and a pick for Butler? Feaster is a terrible GM.

It was Regehr, Ales Kotalik (salary dump) and a 2nd for Butler and Paul Byron.

Then that 2nd was given back to Calgary for Buffalo to move up a few draft spots (I think it was 4) from their acquired Nashville pick (Gaustead trade) to Calgary's spot to select Girgensons.
