Surrey's Kevin Sundher - C (2010 Draft, 75th overall, Buffalo Sabres)

Any thoughts on this 16 year old player, who has 9 points in 8 games this year?

Sundher has really good speed and handles the puck exceptionally well. Once he adds some muscle, he will be a really tough guy to play against at the WHL level. Really early, but looks like he should be a first round pick in 2010.

He's #9 for the Bruins.

I had a chance to watch Sundher in Lethbridge last night and I was very impressed.
He has a tremendous skating stride, fantastic shot, and also was the go-to offensive weapon on his team at 16. That's impressive. He was explosive and his head was on a swivel at all times as he easily read the play. He isn't undersized nor does he shy away from going in the corners.
He did make a few mistakes but they were simply a result of trying to push the play. There is nothing wrong with that in my eyes as it means he wants to make things happen and isn't intimidated by playing in a league with older players.
I could see him having a very very very bright future based only on seeing him for one game. He appeared to have that 'it' about him.

Prab Rai is an ECHL player at best, He never had potential to be an NHLer

Kevin Sundher Scouting Report?

I was wondering if anyone could give me a scouting report on Kevin Sundher? What other players could you compare him to?

Bumping this thread, still interested in knowing what people think of him. Will he be available in the 4th round?

I'm not really sure how well he's thought of, as to where he'll be drafted.

I saw him play once via stream this year and once on Sportsnet (though that could have been late last year, can't remember), and he never really stood out to me...good hands and was clearly an offensive minded guy, he just never really stood out as having that much skill. Wasn't very involved physically. For example, the games I saw with Antonin Honejsek in them this year, his skill level with the puck always wowed me. Yet his stats aren't all that great. Sundher is the opposite, it seems.

Not that big but strong and tough, quick, decent skater. Good puckhandler and playmaker. Good on faceoffs. Decent defensively.

I'd say there's a fair chance he'd still be available in 4th round.

Kevin Sundher FTW. Chuk dhey futaay mundiya. Realistically though, not top line material. If everything works out and he realizes hsi potential maybe 2nd or 3rd liner but not a lock by any means to have a NHL career. Needs some more AHL seasoning.

There should be a mini-explosion of non-European players in the next 10 years or so, especially out of the Vancouver-Surrey area / Toronto-Brampton area. Just given the level of hockey interest there .

As a Sikh, I'd be proud of the first kid to be a impact player in the NHL.

Bawa briefly played but was a 4th line plug.

Prab Rai is in the ECHL now and probably wont make it.

Kevin seemed to perform pretty good at the combine, scoring in the top 10 in a number of the tests. His stock really seemed to rise since the middle of the season, from somewhere around the mid-90's to mid 60's(?). I'm really looking forward to seeing what he can do going forward.

What makes you think he won't make it? He just finished off a very solid WHL career and has been steadily improving each season. And no he isn't in the ECHL, has yet to play a game.

Assigned to the ECHL before being diagnosed with Mono IIRC.
