Probably Hartley seeing that his stars are stepping up and is piling it on them.. And Hudler and Cervenka seem to be gelling and getting confidence out there

I'd keep Baertschi in the lineup, and give him some time on the powerplay. Having someone who brings the speed/energy he does is needed, even if it's 4th line minutes. Having him here makes us a better team.

I really think he's going to benefit from reduced ice time and more offensive responsibilities.. You see him rush the puck this game and it looks like he's been doing it for years, don't want to jinx it but he looks just like the highlights I watched over and over of him when he signed.

He has 6 minutes and 31 seconds of ice time. Only Comeau (4:21), Jones (4:18) and Baertschi (3:51) have less amongst forwards.

It seems for every step forward the Flames take, they take one or one and half backwards. There's no reason why Backlund should be getting so little ice time when he's actually playing well.

And playing Bartschi ~6 minutes is a night is an absolutely horrific way to develop a prospect. If he's not getting ice time here, send him to the AHL.

2 good games off the start of the season, so not like jarome. A goal from iggy would put the icing on the cake

This is how Hartley coaches he plays the top 6 all night and the rest fight for whats left. Tanguay went thru it under Hartley and it worked out fine for him I am willing to trust Hartley.

I wouldn't worry about Sven, we're going to see a lot of guys in and out of the fourth line depending on who is playing well and who isn't.

Tanguay was put on the first line with Sakic, although I could be wrong about that.

But Hartley's got to find a way to reward guys when they're playing well, even if they're in the bottom six.

Fairly sure Tanguay only played with Sakic during the playoffs, when Forsberg got injured.

I don't know about hate, but yeah, the majority of the fanbase dismissed him as being too small and slow, and didn't read much else into it.

I was in the minority, feeling like Hudler represented a cross roads for the organization ever since his rookie year. The writing was on the wall the entire time, but I always held out hope that the Wings would eventually revert course and favor managements style over their coaches style.

Happy to see Jiri in a place where he'll get to play with the puck in the offensive zone, play forward on the PP, and make a few defensive mistakes like he just did without getting demoted for months at a time.

Man, Stemps almost scores a second of the night. He, and indeed the whole team, have been great tonight.

Flames have 28 faceoffs wins to the Oilers 21 thus far. Cevenka with a 100% success rate, albeit after only three draws. Backlund 0 for 5, while Hudler's 0 for 1.

When Whitnwy is rubbing Stajan off the puck, something is wrong

He played 15:30 but didn't have nearly the competition that Sven does now.

Remember that Detroit fans have been spoiled immensely over the years.

At this stage, it's more concerning that Backlund's being given so little opportunity despite showing so much more in his game this season. I'd be okay with Baertschi being sent to the AHL so he can dominate there, for a while at least.

You're overreacting. Just last game Backlund was on the first line, remember?

Why are we *****ing about the young players ice time when we're winning? Save it for when we are losing, at least then it will make sense.

What a chance for Cervenka. Great play by Hudler too.
